LIBRARY SERVICES FOR STUDENTS
Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
You will find the following in the library for pleasure or schoolwork:
~Books: nonfiction, fiction, and reference
~Magazines and newspapers
~Computers for word processing and internet research
~Computer printers (printouts for school are free; printouts for personal non-academic use are 5 cents each; pay at the desk)
~Copy machine (copies are 10 cents each; pay at the desk)
LIBRARY RULES
~Talk softly.
~Do not bring food, candy, gum, or drinks into the library.
~Replace magazines you have used. If you're not sure where they go, ask Ms. Gilmer or Mrs. Graham, or leave them on the circulation desk.
~After you finish using a book, leave it on the circulation desk to be reshelved.
~Close computer programs you have used when you are done.
~Be sure you have all your books, notebooks, pencils, backpacks, etc. before you leave the library.
~Throw away all trash before you leave.
LIBRARY PROCEDURES FOR STUDENTS
~Sign in at the circulation desk when you enter the library. Remember to sign out when you leave.
~When you come to the library with your class, follow your teacher's instructions as usual. Since you're in the library, follow Ms. Gilmer's and Mrs. Graham's instructions, also.
~If you have come to the library on your own and a class comes in and needs your computer or table, you will have to give up your place to the class.
~Pay at the desk for printing. Computer printouts are free for academic use (class or club), 5 cents a page for non-academic use. Xerox copies are 10 cents per page.
~When you can't find what you want, ask for help!
CHECKING OUT BOOKS AND MAGAZINES
~You may check out three items at a time. If you have already have three items checked out, you may check out another one only if you return one of the others--unless you have any overdue items. If you have an overdue item, you must return it before you may check out anything else.
~Books and magazines are checked out for two weeks, but you may return them before they are due.
~Reference books are checked out for one night. They must be returned the next school day.
~If a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, you must pay to have it replaced. If you pay for a lost book and then find it, your money will be refunded when you return the book in good condition.
THE MOST IMPORTANT RULES
~Take care of your library: treat library materials, equipment, and furnishings with respect.
~Treat other library users with respect.
~Ask for help when you need it.
