Language Arts Updates for April 2011 April is Poetry Month!!! Your child has been working on realistic fiction, and poetry selections in Language Arts. Your child will be learning: How to read and analyze a poem. How to identify figurative language in poems. How to create figurative language. How to create different styles of poems. Your child will also continue to read "Scholastic News Debates." Congrats to my class for having a high Classscape score for Objective 3.01: Explore argumentative works that are read, heard, and/or viewed. This is often the hardest objective for students to master! E.O.G.'S There will several homework assignments for Language Arts in the next few months as we prepare for the E.O.G.'s. I will be sending home an E.O.G. practice packet of reading selections for your child to work on after school, and over Spring Break. Please make sure they are practicing the packet. Things you can do to help them on their packet... 1. MAKE SURE THEY READ THE QUESTIONS FIRST BEFORE THE SELECTION!!! 2. MAKE SURE THEY CIRCLE KEY/IMPORTANT WORDS IN THE QUESTIONS. 3. MAKE SURE THEY UNDERLINE THE TITLE & HEADINGS. 4. MAKE SURE THEY ELIMINATE ANY SILLY ANSWERS! E.O.G. Practice Links will be posted soon.
