Thanks to all who contributed to the YMCA child and the Hospice donation. This all kind of came at once this year, and the teachers are thankful for those of you who went the extra mile! Tomorrow is the last day for the YMCA contribution. POLAR EXPRESS>>>>ALLL ABOARD!!! The first graders can come to school this Thurs. in pj's or sweats (otherwise, NOT a free dress day) They can bring a pillow and blanket if they wish. We'll drink hot chocolate and watch the movie. they are welcome to bring a change of clothes (uniform only) for recess and the afternoon. Our class party will begin at 1:30. Parents are welcome to come and help us decorate little gingerbread houses and to snack with us. We do NOT do a gift exchange. Friday will be a low key relaxing day for our class, with regular dismissal time and no extended day. I wish you a safe and joyous holiday, filled with love, close family times and many wishes for a New Year full of blessings and peace. See you real soon! Ms. Jackson
My e-mail is jbadawi@houstonisd.org Week of Nov. 17 Hello, I hope this finds you! Now that I changed my schoolnotes account, I can't go back to the other one. So far this new one is not my cup of tea...but we'll see if this reaches you. Our field trip is this Tuesday. We will leave around 9 and line up at the MFA to get in at 10:00. Please remember to pack a sack lunch with your child's name. We do not want to bring extra food or containers back to school, so please keep that in mind:) The docents will lead us in small groups and then we'll meet on the museum lobby stairs after. From there, we'll walk over to the Sculpture Garden to see the Calder crab stabile and have lunch. Please go over museum etiquette with your child! I want everyone to enjoy the experience, but I am responsible for making sure the kids understand not to touch the art, even in the sculpture garden. We should return to school in time to visit the library, so please make sure the kids have their library book. As mentioned, student led conferences are now slated for Dec.3. If you are unable to re-sign up, please e-mail me the time you prefer. The slots are the same, but we are starting over with a new sign up page. I apologize for the inconvience. A HUGE thanks to Alena's CALM Mom who assisted with the building of our exquisite Calder circus, now on display by our room. The kids did a fabulous job! Always somewhat chaotic an experience! To me, the actual process of working together and problem solving is the most valuable part of this endeavor. The PYP learner profile is a huge part of each planner. In this project, the class showed how important it is to communicate, use inquiry, risk taking and cooperation skills to accomplish the goal. I am proud of how well they all did, and delighted with the results. The homework is a bit different this week. If you have questions, please feel free to e-mail me. Have a great week! Ms. Jackson |
