Homework and reminders for 4th grade

       You might have noticed on our new web site a program called Study Island. Study Island is an internet based program used at Aquinas Academy to enrich the language arts and math curriculm.  Its purpose is to reinforce and/or remediate skills in these content areas.  As an internet based program, a particular strength of Study Island is that it is accessible both at school and at home.  Working on this program 15-30 minutes a week should increase their basic skills.  Soon your child will learn their password and begin to use this program at school.  After that you can encourage your child to spend time at home on the computer using Study Island.

SPELLING

Monday 11/2 students wrote all 30 words in planner

                    assigned exercises page 67  1-20 due Wed.

 Tuesday 11/3 can turn in exercises early

Wednesday 11/4 exercises due

Thursday 11/5 study

Friday 11/6 Spelling test - Unit 10  (all 30 words) 

ENGLISH

Monday - worked on antonyms page 62-63 

Tuesday - work on writing assignment

 Wed- Friday - begin Unit 2 on nouns

Wed. 11/3 worksheet on nouns for homework 

RELIGION

  We have a new religion series this year.  The web page is www.WEBELIEVEweb.com for additional review.

 

Monday- Friday reading chapter 4  -

 TEST next week on chapter 4

Students can turn in any service hours they have done at any time

SCIENCE

 We will begin Unit D Human Body in the science book.

After each lesson there will be a lesson assessment worksheet.  Students need to use the book to help do the worksheet correctly.

Students will write definitions and take notes in their notebook.  There will be a test after each chapter.  On the test there will be a section on vocabulary words.  Students should go over the vocabulary words daily.  Sometimes there are 15- 16 words.

REMINDERS

2. November book order  - due  Thursday, Nov. 5.  Can send in check like in the past  or order on line.  Whatever you prefer!

3.  First chess club meeting is Wed. 11/5 

4. Return conference paper and party paper as soon as possible.

5.  Boys interested in playing basketball need to have a physical before starting practice. 

6. information on the Legion of Mary was presented today.  The Legion of Mary meets every Thursday 3:00 to 4:00 in the Formation building.  All boys and girls are encouraged to join.  Check the handout. 

6.. Students should have a chapter book at all times to read when they finish their work and in the morning.  That way getting all their required AR points won't be too difficult.
