Homeroom Updates:
 
* End of 1st Trimester this Friday, Nov. 13th. Students will begin a new rotation of related arts beginning Monday, Nov. 16th.

 * Fall Conference Sign-Up Sheets went home with students on Friday, November 6th. Parents should indicate a 1st and 2nd choice for time slots and have your child return the form by Friday, November 13th. I will send confirmation slips home the week of November 16th. Thank you!

*School closed Wednesday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day.

*Monday, November 16th the H1N1 flu shot will be administered to all students who returned the parent consent form.

    • Writing will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
    • In addition, students are working on two writing assignments on our web-based writing program called Write-to-Learn. One is on a special piece of clothing and the other on a day they remember that was significant because of the weather. The two assignments can be accessed at school or home using their logon at:
  • Grammar/ Punctuation

    • Class will continue to work on quotation marks this week as part of the City of Ember work.
  • Novel Study - The City of Ember
    • Students will read chapters 13 and 14 this week.
    • Focus will be on vocabulary, cause/effect, and emerging themes in book.

 

  • Social Studies

  • Test on Hunter-Gatherers and Early Farming Societies will be Monday, Nov. 10th
  • We'll finish up our unit by discussion the development of cities and civilizations on Thursday, Nov. 12th.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 10th, we'll discuss and write about the history of Veterans Day. Students will view the gallery of Veterans Day posters from 1978 to present. They will write about their view on our civic duty to recognize Veterans Day.
  • Friday, Nov 13th we'll begin our study of Ancient Mesopotamia.

Binder clean-out scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13th.
