Monday, Tuesday & Weds- Complete Study Guide for the Chemistry District Assessment Test. If you are absent be sure to pick up a Study Guide.

Unit Highlights: Introduction to Physical Science

Prentice Hall Science Book Chapter 1 and Chapter 11-2

Key Concepts : By the end of the unit you should be able to answer each of the following questions:

1) What are the key steps of the Scientific Method? Know the difference between the manipulated variable and the responding variable.

2) Why do scientists use SI units? How do they differ from common units in the US? Be able to name the SI units for mass, volume and density.

3) Explain the difference between mass and weight. Be sure you know how to use a balance to find mass.

4) How do you find the volume of an irregular solid? Be able to use overflow cans and graduated cylinders to find the volume of irregular solids.

5) Know the formula for density. Be able to use the formula to solve simple word problems and actual lab practical problems.

6) What is the density of water? How can you predict whether an object will sink or float?
