ERWIN RESPECTS

Coming VERY SOON  to Erwin is an exciting new Bully prevention approach( research -based Olweus) that a large EMS committee has been working on since last school year!  A  staff school-wide training took place on on September 29th and we are planning a large kick off for our students in December. More details to come...

Large Group Guidance

 Large group guidance started with our 6th graders.  We are doing an awesome lesson on "Tearing off Labels" in October. 

Small Group Guidance

Small Groups this year will be based on students' needs.   We are continuing with our Friday high risk group. We are also planning a grief group in conjunction with Hospice, and a 7th grade girls group.  We are also working on implementing the "Girls On The Run" program for our 6th grade girls in the Spring.  

Guidance Stars

The guidance group STARS (Students Teaching About Real Life Situations) are off to a great start. In recognition of Red Ribbon Week at the end of October, they have started teaching a lesson on substance abuse. During our training day, our group came up with some interesting and relevant Middle School topics for future lessons! We look forward to learning from them. We have also started a new "Smiles" program in which notes of encouragement and such are sent to all new students, 2 teachers and students needing an extra lift each week. STARS are doing new student orientation,and peer mediations, as well as serving as excellent role models at Erwin.
