 12-Week Critical Thinking (6th period)

November 9-13

Mrs. Kimbleton will teach this week.

The week of Nov. 9-13 we will read the novel The Misfits by James Howe in class.  This novel explores the subject of name calling.  Students will answer written questions related to The Misfits for a grade.

Students will also choose from one of the following activities to complete for a grade:

·       If you had the opportunity to create a new political party for a school election, what would your platform be?  How would you promote the party?  Design several potential election posters with different logos and share them with your classmates.

·       Write about your own experiences of being a "misfit," or what you imagine it is like for others who don't fit into the mainstream in your school.  This essay should be at least two pages in length.

Both graded activities should be completed and turned in by Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Please email me at lswope@rcps.org if you have any questions or concerns.  My school phone is 540 731-3649, ext. 6619.
