![]() Welcome to Ms. Stamper's 6th Grade Social Studies It's hard to believe we are in the middle of the 3rd Quarter already. Time really does pass fast when your having fun. Most of us are having a wonderful time learning in Social Studies and are having so much fun. I am learning as much as the children are and we are enjoying bonding as a class. In Social studies this quarter we have been focusing on our intergated unit on Russia. We have researched and created travel brochures on Russian Cities. We have created our own Faberge' Eggs, which the students loved doing. We read the book "Sovietrek" about the American-Soviet Cyclist who traveled across Russia. For the remainder of the quarter we will finish up with Russia and our intergraded unit. We will discuss and learn about Siberian Tigers and make matrushka dolls. Please make sure to stop by the office as well as our end of the hall to see the incredible work our students are doing. SOCIAL STUDIES PROJECT This is a writing assignment which will be due Feb. 26th. It has to do with the book Sovietrek we read in class. Students did 7 days worth of charts and plotted a map the charts and map will count as 2 project grades. Students also must do the following writing assignment to be turned in on the 26th with the charts and map.This will count as 1 project grade. The following is what the writing must consist of: 2 paragraphs about the cities visited, do not just list them tell me about them 2 paragraphs about the Cultural Experiences the team experienced 2 paragraphs about the Problems the team encountered 2 paragraphs about the Victories the team accompolished 1 paragraph about what you liked about the trip 1 paragraph about what you did not like about the trip. This is due Feb. 26th along with your map and charts. You may use your map and charts to write your paper and use any other details you can remember from the reading. NO LATE PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Reminders *All students are expected to follow the uniform policy. Red polo shirts. Khaki twill pants. NO "SAGGIN' AND DRAGGIN'," we want you to look like the wonderful young ladies and gentlemen we know you are. *NO electronic equipment allowed in the classroom. If your child bringsit to class and I see it I will take it from them. The item will beturned into the office and you will have to come pick it up. Simple rule to remember is "If you don't want me to take it. Don't Bring it" *Please be aware gum is not allowed on the school grounds and in theclassroom for several reasons. Students will be told and warned and ifthe same student(s) continue to not follow the NO GUM ALLOWED policy,we are given no choice but to send an office referral. Remind yourchild NO GUM PLEASE. *Please call the homework hotline daily to find out the homework for theteam. I do the hotline for our team so you can call the one number andget the homework for the Creator's Team . I have the homework on by3:30 and the number is 704-633-2922 ext. 612.
