
WELCOME TO MRS. BAKER'S PE & HEALTH PAGE This year we will be working on many different things in PE and Health Class. 6th grade physical education classes will be working on cooperative games and then prepare for the CT Physical Fitness Test during the first few weeks of school. The mile run, sit and reach, push-up and curl-up test are completed will take place during the last week in September and first weeks in October. Once the fitness test is completed we will be working on units in Frisbee, tumbling, volleyball, basketball, juggling and fitness. Each student will have an opportunity to learn how to use and try the fitness equipment in our fitness room. Each unit will provide students with the opporunity to assess their own growth and knowledge through journal/reflection writing, quizzes, skill checklists and fitness logs.
7th grade physical education classes will be working on a Frisbee unit during September. At the end of September we will begin work on a unit in Orienteering culminating in a trip to June Norcross Webster Boy Scout Camp in Ashford for an experience in Orienteering. After these units we will be working on tumbling, volleyball, basketball, juggling and fitness. Each unit will provide students with the opporunity to assess their own growth and knowledge through journal/reflection writing, quizzes, skill checklists and fitness logs.7th grade health classes will work on the following units: First Aid, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD), empathy training, nutrition, and growth & development. 8th grade health classes include units in: CPR (each student will have the opportunity to become certified), anti-violence/communication, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD), and growth and development.
