WELCOME
to our
21st Century Classroom!

WOW! We are having an incrediable time enjoying our 21st Century Technology! Every day students employ the use of MacBooks, iPods, and Activotes which have been integrated into our learning. Now the technology is a "regular" part of our day. In fact, I can't imagine a day without it.

We do everything with the technology. We learn cursive on our iPods, take Spelling Tests on our iPods, use the iPods for our reading, learn from Math Podcasts, practice our math facts on the MacBooks, partner in our reading with iChat. create, display and present on our MacBooks. We've used our Activotes for asessment and to vote on everything from our favorite things to the presidential election.

We will soon begin a 4th quarter comprehensive math Vodcast (podcast with video) project.  If you would like to experience a PODCAST we completed last year, please scroll to the bottom of this page past the "Links" section. Click on SPRING and you will hear the voices and see the illustrations of our now fourth graders of Cleveland Elementary.

SPELLING LISTS and TEST DATES
Students have received a copy of their Spelling Words for the year along with Test Dates. Tests will be given on Friday. Each week students will have ten words to study and master from the High Frequency Word List. Not only do we want students to spell the words correctly on their Spelling Test, the larger goal is to have each student correctly spell the words each time they are used in their writing. Once a student consistently does this, mastery is achieved. We believe this will greatly help our third grade students prepare for their upcoming fourth grade writing test next year. Thank you for helping your student master these very important words!


ACCELERATED READER:
Students are busy reading and taking AR Tests based on their individualized reading levels. We use our MacBooks for AR testing each morning from 7:15 AM until 7:45 AM. Time is also available during AR class. Individual student goals are written in their orange AR folders and recorded on the Weekly Grade Report.









GOOD CITIZENS
Not only are our students working diligently on academic disciplines, but they are also maturing in their social development. Week after week students are making good decisions for which we can all be proud. As a result they are becoming better students, friends and citizens.
