to our
21st Century Classroom!

WOW! We are having an incrediable time enjoying our 21st Century Technology! Every day students employ the use of MacBooks, iPods, and Activotes which have been integrated into our learning. Now the technology is a "regular" part of our day. In fact, I can't imagine a day without it.

We use technology for everything. We learn cursive on our iPods, take Spelling Tests using our iPods and MacBooks, use iPods for our reading, learn from Math Podcasts, practice our math facts on the MacBooks, partner in our reading with iChat, and create, display and present on our MacBooks. We use Activotes for asessment and to vote on everything from our favorite things to the presidential election.

This year promises to be a year like none other as we will experience something that no other classroom in Rowan County will be experiencing ... a room completely filled with 21st Century Technology.  There are 14 other 21st Century Classrooms in the Rowan-Salisbury School System, however they do not have the technology that we are privileged to have.  How did we get this enormous blessing?  ActivEpressions were provided by the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce as a result of me being selected the Rowan-Salisbury Schools’ Teacher of the Year for 2009 - 2010.  These are free response systems students use to text answers in class.  I have written a grant to assist with the cost of digital cameras I purchased. And I am piloting an audio system.  This system provides every student a “front-row seat” in our classroom.  Additional Teacher of the Year classroom funds will be provided by the Phillip J. Kirk Scholarship.
