Welcome to Ms. Buyer's 2nd Grade Webpage Curriculum Focus- Week of 2-8 Math- Students will learn how to tell time (on five minute increments) and read temperatures. Language Art- Students will about different types of genres and will begin their research on of Winter Olympians. The Spell-A-Thon test will take place this week on Friday. This week's "Power Words" are: explain- tell me how or why summarize- to give me the short version. Students will be tested on Friday and need to spell, define and correctly use these words in a sentence and a question. Reminder! Students must use the Power Words in sentences and questions with proper context and must show that they understand the word. Simple questions and sentences will not be counted as correct. Examples of an incorrect uses are: He described. Can you describe? He supported. Can you support? He analyzed. Can you analyze?.... Please help your child come up with sure winners! Reminders With colder weather here, please make sure your child wears warmer clothes and comes appropriately dressed to school! :) Please make sure to send money in an envelope with your child's name, lunch number (if applicable) and a note as to where we are to send the money. Please encourage your child to read 20-30 minutes each night. All completed books read are to be recorded in reading log. If your child is reading a long book, please write me a note to update me.
