"Two Models Of Parenting"

"I got two A's,"  the small boy said.

His voice was filled with glee.

His fater rather bluntly asked,

"Why didn't you make it three?"

"Mom, I've got the dishes done."

The girl called from the door.

Her mom rather calmly said,

"And did you sweep the floor?"

"I mowed the grass," the tall boy said.

"And put the mower away."

His father asked him with a shrug,

"And did you clean off the clay?"

The children in the house next door

Seemed happy and content.

The same things happened over there,

But this is how it went:

I got two A's," the small boy said.

His voice was filled with glee.

His father proudly said, "That's great;

I'm glad you belong to me."

"Mom I've got the dishes done,"

The girl called from the door.

Her mom smiled and softly said,

"Each day I live you more"

"I've moved the grass," the tall boy said,

"and put the mower away."

His father answered with much joy,

"Thanks, so, that makes my day!"

Children deserve a little praise

For the tasks they're asked to do.

If they're to lead a happy life,

A lot depends on you.

The Intervention Program is designed to assist parents and students to ensure a successful educational experience with Erwin Middle School. Students who attend school regularly, remain drug free and follow the rules tend to be the ones that are better prepared for high school.  Middle School can be a great experience for students if parents/guardians, students and the school work together.

This year we have TRU/Lifesavers Clubs in all grade levels.  This says a lot for our students.  They are committed to being tobacco free and that is what I want for them.  We are in the process of ordering special shirts for all members and are planning activities at home sporting events.  Some of the Club members represented Erwin in the Christmas parade in Salisbury. It's a good way for students to spread the word about the dangers of tobacco use.

School success depends highly on being in school  every day that school is in session.  If this was not true, NC would not have the Compulsory Attendance Law.  It is printed in the RSS Code of Conduct.

Please remember that attendance and school success go hand in hand.

If your child misses school, a note from the doctor or you should be given to the homeroom teacher upon their return.  All make up work is important.
