Welcome to Mrs. Johnson's Class!

Hi Parents!  Thank you for checking out this page.  I hope to have useful information here to help your child succeed this year.  If there is any information you need that isn't posted please email me and I will get it to you.

Reading: There is a strong focus on reading in 1^st grade.  To help your child reach their full potential we must work together with this. Encourage a lot of reading at home, and return Reading Logs weekly.

Planners:  It is mandatory that every child has a planner and a school to home folder. Please initial planner daily so that I know you are aware of any notes that may be written. 

Homework:  This will be written in the planner on a daily basis and needs to be turned in every Friday.  Usual homework will include Spelling, Math,and a Reading Log which shows at least 15 minutes of Reading each night Mon. through Thurs. 

Discipline:  We will follow a “behavior card” system in class this year.  Everyday your child will start out on Green (Great Day! 1 check on the Reward Chart).  If a rule is broken they will change their card to Yellow (Warning!).  If this happens again, they will change their card to Blue (2^ndWarning!  10 minutes Silent Recess).  The final card is Red (Last Chance! Entire Silent Recess AND a note sent home to parents). Please reinforce this at home by asking your child every day what color they were on. 

Important Notes Regarding Volunteer Hours

If you have 1 or more children in Elementary grades (K-5) you will need to complete 30 hours this school year.

If you have 1 child in Elementary and 1 in Middle (6-8) you will need to complete 40 hours this school year. 

$4 = 1 volunteer hour
