During the month of March, we have learned what it means to share with friends. Many stories have pointed us toward working together. Now, we are exploring the idea that friends are also our friends. Be sure to count, count, count. Remind your child to put their finger on each item as they are counting. Our goal is to count to twenty and recognize numbers 1 - 10! The children are doing a wonderful job of obtaining this goal. ![]() We are learning the sounds of each letter. Our goal is to know the sounds of each letter of the alphabet by the end of the year. As we work on a letter each week, we say the letter sound and name. We are also working on learning the letters of our names. Several children each day get to use the Waterford computer program. It is a great way for them to learn about phonemic awareness. Our class recently used the Reading it Again curriculum to expand our learning using the book, Silly Sally, by Audrey Wood. I was amazed at the comprehension and language development that took place. We focused on the action verbs and sequence of events. www.ncpublicschools.org/docs/parents/resources/makingthegrade/2009winter.pdf ![]() |
