                                        Sixth Grade Science

    For the week of November 9, 2009

     We have been working in class on a power point presentation - Evidence of a Chemical Change.  No homework this week. 

Parents - Please sign and return the Field Trip permission form.  We are scheduled to go on a
field trip to the Honey Island Swamp on Thursday, November 19, 2009.   Thank you!  Ms. Dee





          For the week of November 2, 2009

Students were issued an experiment to complete at home called Pennies and Paper Clips.  This is due Monday, November 2, 2009.  Please return the paper clip and the completed worksheet.





               For the week of October 26, 2009

Students will receive a study guide for chapter E2, lesson 1.
Chapter E2, lesson 1 test will be Wednesday.

Friday - The  Pennies and Paper Clip experiment is due Monday, November 2nd.  Please return the paper clip and you worksheet.






          For the week of October 19, 2009

Monday - Wednesday - We are working on an in class lab - Measuring volume and mass to determine density and buoyancy. Read Chapter E2, Lesson 1.

Thursday - Chapter E2, Lesson 1 Question and vocabulary are due by Friday.







         For the week of October 12, 2009

Monday - Complete chapter E1 review, pages E 40 - 41.

Tuesday - Complete worksheet - chapter E 1.   Study for your chapter test.  Use lesson 1, 2, 3, and 4 tests as a study guide.

Wednesday - Chapter E 1 test is today!  Did you study?






               For the week of October 5, 2009

Complete study guide for the Chapter E1, Lesson 4 test.  The Chapter E1, Lesson 4 test will be
on Thursday.  Study your study guide!

Next week students will take the Chapter E1 test which will cover Lessons 1, 2, 3, and 4.  Use
your Lesson 1, 2, 3. and 4 tests that were returned to you to study!






     For the week of September 28, 2009

Monday -  No homework.  We are working on Chapter E1, Lesson 4.  We are completing a lab
activity on Acids and Bases.





     For the week of September 21, 2009

Chapter E1, lesson 3 test will be on Thursday.  Study guides will be given to students on Monday or Tuesday.  Use the study guide to study for the test!




    For the week of September 14, 2009

 
1.  We will finish our lab reports for our activity "What is the effect of expanding CO2 gas on a film canister?" 
2.  Students will receive a study guide for chapter E1, Lesson 2 to complete.  This study guide should be completed and brought to class on Tuesday.
3.  Use the study guide to study for the chapter E1, Lesson 2 test.
4.  Chapter E1, Lesson 2 test will be given on Wednesday.
5.  Complete worksheet in class.  No homework.

      


           For the week of September 8, 2009

Tuesday - Color the radioactive elements.  Do not forget to make a key.

Wednesday - Thursday - For chapter E1, lesson 3 - define the vocabulary words, answer the 4 red check questions in this lesson and the 5 questions on page E27.






For the week of August 31, 2009

Wednesday - complete the "Simply Symbols" worksheet, bring it to class on Thursday.








      For the week of August 17, 2009 -

1.  Answer the red check questions found on pages E 6 - 10.
2.  Answer the questions found on page E11.
3.  Complete worksheet - What Makes Up an Atom?  and   Gather Data
4.  Study guide for chapter E1, lesson 1 test will be given on Friday.  Complete the study guide      for homework if not completed in class.
5.  Chapter E1, Lesson 1 test will be given on Tuesday, August 25.


       For the week of August 24, 2009

Monday - Use your study guide to study for the the test!

Tuesday - Chapter E1, lesson 1 Test today!

Wednesday - Read pages E14 - 17.  In class we are coloring the periodic table according to solids, liquids, gases, and produced in a lab.  No homework.

Thursday -  Due on Monday - Define the vocabulary words on p E14, answer the five questions on page E19, and the 3 red check questions found on page E15 - 18.

Friday - No homework!
