Reading: This week the students will be reading the third story in their reading books,Pigs in the Rig. Look for the book coming home on Tuesday and Thursday for them to read. There will be a comprehension test for them to take on Friday so have them prepared. Spelling Words: "et" family vet set let wet pet met jet bet A pretest will be given on Wednesday and a spelling test will be given on Friday. Please help your child study their words every night! Writing: We will begin writing three sentences in first grade for our stories. We will also be working on many conventions such as spacing out our words, capitalization, and punctuation. Science: We will begin a Science unit on living and non-living things including an extensive look into animals. Math: We will begin Unit 3 on Monday on Addition. This is a very important concept for your child to learn. Learning how to add is a huge foundational skill that your child will build upon later. Please work with your child at home.
