Welcome to Millbridge and to second grade!!!  Mrs. King Second Grade  November News Reading - Our third theme in reading is "Adventure Around Town: Neighborhood and Community." We will be reading about six different kinds of neighborhoods. Skills in this unit include making judgements, main idea with supporting details, inferences, and nouns. AR Reading - Reading is the single most important thing you can do to help your child at home. Please read at least 20 minutes each night and record the time spent reading on the reading log. Make sure your child reads their AR book at least two times and ask your child comprehension questions about the book before they try to test on the book. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL STUDENTS FOR MAKING THEIR 100% GOAL THE FIRST QUARTER! ALSO CONGRATULATIONS TO MAX, SYDNEY, MONTANA, STAR, HALEY G., SHANE, CHRISTOPHER, BELLA, AND SARAH FOR MAKING THHEIR 150% GOAL. Math - We are finishing our topic on numbers to 1,000. We have been learning the standard form, written form, and expanded form of these numbers. We have also been comparing them and putting them in order from least to greatest. Our next topic will be studying graphing using bar graphs and pictographs. Social Studies - We completed our unit on elections and voting as part of our responsibility as citizens. We chose two wonderful candidates from our two parties to run for our class president in a mock election. Congratulations to Montana Brown, President and Haley Good, Vice-President. We are learning about American Symbols and what they stand for in our country. Congratulations, Good Citizens!
