The first six week in 3P have been a tremendous success! The 21 students and I have jelled very nicely together as we've learned the importance of a caring learning community based on respect, manners, an eagerness to help each other, and an atmosphere where mistakes are welcomed as a new learning opportunity.
Come check out our author's bulletin board outside our room to see our first third grade attempt at a personal narrative based on a summer moment that was important to your child. We're now learning how to write a new narrative with a focus on tighter sentence structure, how to grab your audience with an attractive lead, and using fancier synonyms for more word variety.
The maps your children made of a room in their home were a splendid example of their hard work and enthusiasm for going the extra step in wanting to do their best. This enthusiasm is equally evident in the teamwork they exhibit during our Land & Water experiments. Ask your child about what's been happening to all the land in their team' tub and what's causing all this erosion.
I look forward to Halloween and the wonderful costumes we'll be seeing. We'll be having fun with our buddy class, 2J, that afternoon as we engage in some language-arts based Halloween activities before our in-class party. See you at the parade!
Sincerely,
Dan Packel
