![]() Welcome to Mrs. Perry's Notes for AIG Students and Parents _____________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ FYI PARENTS Homework: Week of September 4th Math:Spiral Review worksheet 5th Math: Spiral Review worksheet 4th and 5th Reading: Read daily In the Classroom: We are getting ourselves organized and learning the responsibilities as an AIG student. _____________________________________________ 4th Grade Math- These 4th grade students are quickly covering topics in our curriculum. We are learning all aspects of numeration, mental math strategies, reviewing basic facts, divisibility rules, and will soon be in fractions and decimals. Spiral review is a daily math homework assignment given on Friday the week before it is due. This is to allow students the opportunity to work at their own pace and not feel the demands of nightly homework with extra curricular activities throughout the week. However, the first row of the page should be ready to check on Monday. ____________________________________________ 5th Grade Math -Fifth graders are working on numeration, decimals, mental calculations, and problem solving using model drawing. There are many spiraling skills that help students with review on the weekly spiral reviews. These will be given every Friday for the students to work on over the weekend. ___________________________________________________________________________ 4TH AND 5TH GRADE Language Arts/Reading- Students are working to complete a web quest on the Constitution. Through reading, "Shh! We're Writing the Constitution" our goal is to understand the process for writing the plan and it's purpose. We are researching the branches of government, life in the 1700's, the Bill of Rights, and many more topics related to our country's beginnings. Students have been challenged to work in groups with total participation from all members. I have been very excited about our start to the year. Writing summaries and questions about the text have allowed for practice in our writing skills as well. This is also a focus on social studies, so for these students, they are getting an enriched understanding of history. We hope to share our knowledge with other classes with the use of technology. ___________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ Nurturing Through: Problem Based Learning - Third graders are our top priority. With the IQ tests rapidly approaching, we are practicing some InView type questions to familiarize ourselves with how to process these types of questions. After a few lessons of practicing these problems, we will shift gears and focus on problem based learning for the remainder of our time together. ________________________________ _______________________________________________ Together in teaching, Sonya Perry _____________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Disclaimer: Linked sites are not under the control of the school district or its employees.
