Wow!  What a great Art Fair!  I hope all of you were able to come and enjoy the creativity of our students and the leadership of our wonderful art teachers.  It’s always an amazing event!  It takes many long hours to put it together and all the volunteers who help out are very much appreciated.  This Thursday is our Academic Fair at 3:00.  Please come to the Fellowship Hall to see some of the special projects our SOTD students have been working on. **Please check your homes and return school and classroom books.

Religion:  We begin our final unit: Go Tell About Jesus.  This unit has an emphasis on evangelism as we look at the spreading of the Gospel through the ministry of the apostle Paul.  The focus for us is the ongoing mission of spreading the Gospel to all nations.  We learn that the Holy Spirit provides us with faith, power, and protection to carry out His will and purpose.

Memory work:  Children will say their memory verse on Thursday.

          As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  Joshua 24:15

Math:  We will spend time this week reinforcing concepts through problem solving and reviewing skills and operations.  We will also work on creating survey questions and putting the resulting information on a graph.

Reading: This week we read “The Littles” and do a literature study. Besides reading and discussing the book, the children will also write answers to comprehension questions.

Phonics:  Review prefixes, homonyms, synonyms and antonyms.

Spelling Words: The words are from “The Littles.” They are challenging words for us - afraid, children, secret, invite, energy, mice, yarn, second, amazing, plan, wrong, knock, break, simple, stairs.  2 extra challenge words: invasion, contraption

Shurley English: Unit 2 Group 10 sentences, capitalization and punctuation rules. Write a two point expository paragraph. Practice identifying a topic.

Handwriting – Write memory work.

Social Studies: Unit 5- Our Country – Stepping Back in Time; Linking Our World

Class Academic Fair Project: “Class President Campaign” – Speeches and Voting Day!

Science - Unit D:  The Human Body – Nutrition and the Food Pyramid Guide.
