 HERE'S WHAT WE ARE LEARNING........

   Reader's Workshop

Book Clubs are in full swing! Our current class novel is The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling. In our Book Clubs we are exploring Main Idea, Summarization, Making opinions, Connections, Cause and Effect, and much more! We are learning that good readers analyze what they read to gain a better understanding of their characters, plot, setting, and the book. Through our explorations of each book we are becoming proficient readers!

Wordly Wise and Word Work- Please do not skip ahead. Allow them to do only the homework that is assigned.

The Writing Workshop

We just finished our Personal Narratives and have begun our adventures into Poetry! This week students will be exploring the different parts of poetry and discovering exactly what poetry is all about! Eventually, we will be writing our own poems and creating a class anthology. Super exciting!

  Everyday Math

Unit 3 has four main areas of focus:

1. To explore the need for standard units of measure,

2. To measure lengths using customary and metric units,

3. To develop the concept of area, and

4. To investigate the relationship between diameter and circumference.

 IMPORTANT MATH NEWS!

It's Multiplication time! Please have your kids begin to practice their facts for 5 minutes everyday. Next week they will be getting a facts table chart and a quiz will be given bi-weekly.

Lift it! Push it! Pull it!

This unit explores the world of technology. We will inquire about differernt types of technology as well as how technology affects our everyday life. We will research and learn about inventors and inventions as a precursor to our own invention convention!
