Medication Safety

Cold and flu season is here!  To ensure that medications are given correctly, follow the tips listed below:

Know the weight of your child.

Give medication according to weight if possible.

Read all package instructions carefully.  Only give medication according to the package directions.

When giving liquid medicine ALWAYS use the measuring device provided with the medication.

After giving a dose of medicine, write down the time and amount of medicine given.

Unless directed by a physician, NEVER give adult strength medication to a child under 12.

Keep all medication out of reach of children.

In the event of an accidental overdose, call the Carolinas Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222 IMMEDIATELY.
