Know the weight of your child.
Give medication according to weight if possible.
Read all package instructions carefully. Only give medication according to the package directions. When giving liquid medicine ALWAYS use the measuring device provided with the medication.
After giving a dose of medicine, write down the time and amount of medicine given.
Unless directed by a physician, NEVER give adult strength medication to a child under 12.
Keep all medication out of reach of children.

Kindergarten Information
All Kindergarten students must have a current Healt Assessment to be enrolled in public school. A certificate of immunization is also required to verify that all immunizations have been given. There is a 30 day grace period to meet both of these requirements. Plan ahead with your pediatrician for an appointment. The Rowan County Health Department (704-633-0411) and the Cabarrus Health Alliance (704) 920-1000 have appointments available for health assessments and immunizations. Call ahead to make an appointment.
New immunization requirement for all 6th grade students:
Every student enrolled in the 6th grade must have a Tdap booster. This can be obtained at your private pediatricians office, the Rowan County Health Department or Cabbarus Health Alliance. Make sure to provide proof of immunization. All students not in compliance within 30 days after school begins will be suspended, by state law. Schedule your child's appointment now to avoid being out of compliance when they begin middle school next year. Please provide proof of immunization to your child's current school.
