Week of December 1

Please read the following reminder from Nurse Kaiser:

Remind parents if their child has any of the following to please keep them home for at least 24 hours after vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever. If everyone will follow these guidelines, we should be able to decrease the spread of these ailments.

**The children are responsible for copying the assignments every day into their planners.  I will be doing spot checks and rewarding those students who have been doing the right thing and copying assignments.

The clean hands campaign is a big success.  It is great to see so many kids excited about washing their hands.  I am hoping that this healthy habit pays off for all of us.

Thank you to all of you who have contributed soaps and hand sanitizers!

**The best way to contact me is at brookbankl@lisd.net There can be up to a 24 hour delay if you go through schoolnotes.com

This week:

Reading:  Our story this week is The Case of Pablo's Nose.  We will work on story elements and comparing and contrasting.  Comprehension and vocabulary quiz on Friday.

Math:  Our unit on fractions continues this week.  We will begin comparing and ordering fractions.  We will also learn about improper fractions and mixed numbers.  There will be a review on Friday for a quiz next week.

Writing:  We will take the opportunity to read and score papers learning how to use a scoring rubric.  After scoring the papers, the students will work on making them better.  We will also be working on compound and complex sentences.

Spelling:  Unit 14 spelling, test on Friday.   This starts the new six weeks and the students should keep up with their lists of words.

Science:  Changes in states of matter.  We will learn specific vocabulary to get us through this unit.

Social Studies:  See Mrs. Watkins schoolweb page.  You can log in to her page as a guest.
