Valentine's card holders: Students will not be making card holders in class. They will need to either make one at home or reuse an old one. A class list is attached to aid your child in addressing his/her cards. Remember -- Do not use cards that have candy attached to them. Due to the limited space in our room, please do not send in the card holder and cards until Monday, February 13th. READING: Our reading story this week is "Rocks in His Head." The featured skills are: generalizing, using prior knowledge, and context clues. Our comprehension and vocabulary test will be Monday, 2/13/12. The vocabulary words are: attic, board, chores, customer, labeled, spare, stamps, janitor, minerals, and quarries. SPELLING: Our words contain prefixes (pre, mid, over and out). The words are: prepaid, midnight, overflow, outdoors, outline, overgrown, prefix, Midwest, pretest, midpoint, outgoing, overtime, overdue, outside, outfield, precaution, prediction, midsection, overweight, and prehistoric. The test will be on Friday, February 10th and will be written in cursive. LANGUAGE: Possessive pronouns (my, mine, your, yours, her, hers, his, its, our, ours, their) MATH: Begin working on multiplication and division. Our first fact families test will be on 0's and 1's on Friday, February 10th. Return Flashmaster and recording sheet on Thursday, February 9th. SCIENCE: Continue rocks and minerals unit. SOCIAL STUDIES: Our map test on the Midwest Region will be Tuesday, February 7th and the capital test will be Wednesday, February 8th. We will also be having review map and capital tests on all the areas covered to date on Thursday, February 9th.
