Art at Bradford St.
Original Works orders are due this Friday, October 23rd. Yearbooks will be going on sale in November. The yearbooks will be $15.00 until on January 29th. They will go up to 18.00 after January 29th. You can order them on-line as well at http://jostensyearbooks.com?REF=A01075549 - If you have any photos for the yearbook please send them in with your student on a cd, labeled with event and the photographers name. Please indicate if you would like the cd back. THANK YOU! Literature week meeting for parent volunteers will be on Nov. 18th at 1pm in the art room. We will be designing and coming up with ideas to celebrate Literature the last week in January. If you are interested in helping contact Mrs. Boland at boland@ccs.k12.de.us Art Field trips coming up are as follows: 6th and 7th grade study of medieval influences at the Delaware Art Museum on October 28th. 4th and 5th grade Civil War presentations at Bradford from the Delaware History Museum on Nov. 16th. Grades 2-5 are going to Winterthur Museum for a study on Colonial to Civil war American Portraits from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Yuletide in Victorian times on Dec 21st (2nd and 3rd) and Dec 22nd (4th and 5th grade). December 2nd will be the first day of 4th and 5th grade Art Club. Look for the permission slips the week before Thanksgiving Break. 6th and 7th grade are studying medieval art work and its influence on artwork in other generations. We look at how Symbolism tells a story in art. We are completing Gargoyles, creating graphite drawing of a story with symbols and creating a cross stitch artwork with symbols used during the medieval times. We will then go into the wonderful Renaissance art! 4th and 5th grade we are completing our self portrait study based on several famous artist self portraits. In November we will be looking at portraits and the story telling techniques used by numerous Artists including John Smibert, John Singleton Copley, Gilbert Stuart, and Samuel F. B. Morse. We will also be developing a cell painting based on their own cells. 2nd and 3rd grade students will be creating a life size human body with the digestive system maped out focusing on line, shading and the digestive system terms. We will then be looking at how and why artists create portraits. We will be looking at Artist like John Smibert, John Singleton Copley, Gilbert Stuart, Charles Peale and Samuel F. B. Morse. 1st grade is looking at the many ways to illustrate a story. They are creating a chalk drawing, collage and watercolor painting this coming month. We will be reading and studying Eric Carle, Jack Ezra Keats, and Faith Ringgold.
