Performance Groups

1st and 2nd Grade Chorus
Congratulations on your excellent performance at our Spring Concert. Everyone enjoyed your music! Special thanks to Mrs. Schultz and Makenzie Buss for helping me with this group!
3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Chorus
Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Chorus was amazing at the Spring Concert. It was a wonderful experience for me to conduct these students. I am so impressed that they were able to sing in 4 different languages: English, French, Italian, and Hawaiian.
Congratulations to Lillian Fuller, Matias Gastou, David Jupina, Lyndsay Ross, and Nicolas Rubio-Garcia! These 5 young singers were selected to represent Skyline at the 2009 Elementary Honor Choir on March 30th at South Fort Myers High School. They did a marvelous job both at the long, intense rehearsal and at the performance. I was so proud of these fine musicians!
These Chorus members were recently inducted into the Skyline chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society: Makenzie Buss, Lillian Fuller, Seif Hanbali, Madison McClellan, Lyndsay Ross, and Miranda Shirk. Congratulations!
The Hand Bell Choir

The Hand Bell Choir rang with precision at the Spring Concert. They will continue to provide birthday greetings for faculty members through the rest of the school year.
Class Notes

Students have enjoyed singing the song "What Shall We Do When We All Go Out?" and acting out their favorite outdoor activities.

Students created a song with So and Mi using the words for "Baker's Hat". Then they sang their song and played the Baker's Hat Game. They had fun passing the hat around the circle and describing the yummy treats they would bake.

Students recently completed a written assessment on identifying eighth notes, quarter notes, and half notes. They reviewed the terms forte and piano and sang "You're a Grand Old Flag" with a body percussion ostinato.
Students are learning to play the soprano recorder. They have learned a song in the style of the Renaissance called "B Ready". It has a simple dance interspersed with playing a rhythm pattern on the pitch B on the recorder.

They are really getting good at playing 3 chords on the ukuleles. It's such fun to see them all strumming away with great concentration as they play and sing, "Oh, It Ain't Gonna Rain No More".

Students are really working hard to learn the music for their show "Dreamcatcher". It's only a month away now.

3rd and 4th grade students play recorders during their music classes and should bring their own recorder to each class. Recorders are for sale in the school store for $5.00 each or can be purchased at many local retail stores such as Walmart, Target, and Walgreen. Because the mouthpiece of this instrument is placed between the lips, it is important for each student to have his own recorder which is clearly labelled with the student's name.
