Stingrays Language Arts--In language arts we are reading Hatchet. This book is about a 13 year old who is stranded in the wilderness of Canada following a plane crash. He must survive on his own with the help of a hatchet his mom had purchased for him. We are also studying literary terms in preparation for the EOG. We will have new literary terms each week. Our class opening activity right now is sequencing. Following sequencing we will concentrate on fact and opinion. Please encourage your child to read. Students are able to check out 2 books every two weeks from the library. Our library day is Friday. Social Studies-- We are presently studying Russia. We are learning about the geography as well as the people and government of this country. Following Russia we will study South America for the remainder of the year. Allergy season is upon us, if possible please donate kleenexes. Thanks to all parents who have been very gracious to supplement our kleenex supply. Please remember to sign your child's planner and insist that homework assignments are written down. We have had a very good third quarter and we are looking forward to a great fourth quarter. I am available from 12:45 until 1:45 if you need to call. Some of our students have been offered the opportunity to attend tutoring in the afternoon. If your child has been afforded this opportunity please take advantage of this service.
