Welcome to 2nd GRADE!!!

Welcome to Mrs. Younts' 2nd grade class!  I'm glad to have you in my class.  We are working very hard to reach our goals.  If you need to contact me feel free to call the school office between 7:15 - 7:40 in the morning and 2:50 - 4:00 in the afternoon.  The best way to communicate with me is through your child's agenda since I check them on a daily basis.  If you need to schedule a conference you can contact me through one of these two ways.

Reminders:

Please remember to sign your child's agenda, reading logs and homework folders every day.  All important information including homework is usually found in your child's homework folder.  The agendas, reading logs and homework folders are checked every morning for signatures. This is a great way for me to communicate with you to ensure your child makes the expected progress in 2nd grade.    Homework is given each night Monday through Thursday and can be found in your child's folder.

Every Monday your student will be bringing home a stack of papers from the previous week in their gold homework folder.  I strongly encourage you to sit down with your child and go over each paper to see why they missed the problems and to help them understand how to do the concepts that were taught.  This is a great way to sharpen your child’s skills this year.  The more you help them at home, the better they will succeed in school. Together we can help your second graders succeed this year.

Homework:

 Monday- Complete the math sheet sent home.  Read for 20 minutes and write a one to two sentence summary about the book you read.

Tuesday- Write a sentence with your spelling words.   Complete the reading sheet sent home. Read for 20 minutes and write a one to two sentence summary about the book you read.

Wednesday- Complete the math sheet sent home.  Read for 20 minutes and write a one to two sentence summary about the book  you read.

Thursday- Practice your spelling words by writing them 3 times each. Complete the reading sheet sent home. Read for 20 minutes and write a one to two sentence summary about the book you read.

Friday- Have fun by doing something with your family.

Feb. 9th- 100th day of School (subject to change due to inclement weather)

Feb. 15th- Make up day for Jan. 25th
