Welcome to 2nd GRADE!!!

Welcome to Mrs. Younts' 2nd grade class!  I'm glad to have you in my class.  We are working very hard to reach our goals.  If you need to contact me feel free to call the school office between 7:15 - 7:40 in the morning and 2:50 - 4:00 in the afternoon.  The best way to communicate with me is through your child's agenda since I check them on a daily basis.  If you need to schedule a conference you can contact me through one of these two ways.

Reminders:

Please remember to sign your child's agenda, reading logs and homework folders every day.  All important information including homework is usually found in your child's homework folder.  The agendas, reading logs and homework folders are checked every morning for signatures. This is a great way for me to communicate with you to ensure your child makes the expected progress in 2nd grade.    Homework is given each night Monday through Thursday and can be found in your child's folder.

Every Monday your student will be bringing home a stack of papers from the previous week in their blue homework folder.  I strongly encourage you to sit down with your child and go over each paper to see why they missed the problems and to help them understand how to do the concepts that were taught.  This is a great way to sharpen your child’s skills this year.  The more you help them at home, the better they will succeed in school. Together we can help your second graders succeed this year.

Homework:

Weekly Homework is to be completed on the sheets provided in your child's homework folder and left in the folder to be checked daily.

 

 MONDAY: Complete the math problems.  Write a sentence with 5 of the weekly words. Read 20 minutes and record it on the Reading log.

 

TUESDAY: Complete the math problems. Complete ABC order with the weekly words. Read 20 minutes and record it on the Reading log.

 

 WEDNESDAY: Complete the math problems. Write a sentence with 5 of the weekly words. Read 20 minutes and record it on the Reading log.

 

 THURSDAY:  Complete the math problems. Write the weekly words  4 times to get ready for Friday's spelling test. Read 20 minutes and record it on the Reading log.

 

FRIDAY:  Have fun with your family by doing something together.
