We are having a wonderful year. Encourage your child to read at home daily. "Our Book It "goal is to read at least eight books each month. Students should turn in the reading log by the end of the month. We are also involved in the Accelerated Reader Program. Students read and take computer test on colored coded books from the library or books you may have at home that are on the program.
Writing
The students are writing complete sentences with correct punctuation and capitalization. We will be extending our sentences with adjectives. Students should be able to write at least five to eight sentences on a topic.
Math
We are working on adding two digit numbers with and without regrouping. Students benifit from reviewing any skill already covered. It is a second grade goal to memorize the addition and subtraction facts. They should be learning the facts thoughout the year.
Science
We are studying weather.You can help by making your child aware of the changes in the weather, letting them read a thermometer, and watching the weather report.
Homework
We have an assignment each day. Students record their homework in their agenda each day. Please check and sign the agenda daily.
