Welcome to Mrs. Trapp's First Grade  Important Dates January 3 - Back to School January 16 - No School - MLK Jr. Birthday January 20 - Horizons Field Trip January 23 - Teacher Workday January 26 - PTA Meeting @ 6:00 January 31 - 2nd Quarter Report Cards  What are we learning about in January? Math - counting by 5s and 2s Reading - retelling and Writing - expanding our stories by telling across 5 fingers Social Studies - winter, arctic animal needs  2nd Quarter Homework Monday - Write your spelling words in ABC order. Read for 15 minutes and record it in your reading log. Tuesday - Pick two spelling words. Write one sentence for each that includes at least 5 words. Read for 15 minutes and record it in your reading log. Wednesday - Complete the math sheet sent home. Read for 15 minutes and record it in your reading log. Thursday - Write your words as if they were stairs by adding one letter each time. example:b bo boa boat Read for 15 minutes and record it in your reading log.  Helpful Hints For First Grade: *Please check and sign your child's agenda nightly. *Please help your child complete homework nightly. *Read to your child daily. This can help with recall and retention of information plus it is a wonderful bonding time.
