Mrs. Coggins & Mrs. Schenk's Kindergarten

The start of the New Year is very exciting. We hope that everyone had a nice holiday season together. During the month of January we will be taking our trip to the circus. This has already been paid for and more information about this will come later.

During the month of January we will continue working on letter/letter sounds, discussing the 5 senses, working on numbers 1-20, sorting, graphing, winter and its characteristics, composing at least 2 sentences about a picture, introducing new word wall words, and learning the number words 1-10. Please continue to work with the word wall papers at home. 

We will also start report card assessments this month. I will be sitting down with each child to assess certain skills, and doing DRA's to find their current level for reading.

I will be starting more children in Independent Readers during this month. Please continue to read as much as possible to your child and allow them to do some of the reading.
