We are currently working on the 5 major world religions. We will start with Judaism the move to Christianity, Islam, Hinduism & Buddhism. We will not be working out of the textbook for this unit because it is spread out all over the textbook & tends to be confusing to students. Students will read from handouts from another textbook & learn through discussion & group work about each of the religions. If you have any questions during this unit please feel free to contact me.
Next test is scheduled for Tues 2/9. Open notes. Ask your kids about: "The 12 New Powerful Words" integrate - to bring two or more things or ideas together. proportion - two ratios that are equal. approximate - near or about: estimate relationship - the comparison of a part to a whole. generalize - to come to a broad conclusion. elaborate - to provide details about a topic, subject or problem. connect - determine how two or more things are related; how things work together. emphasize - stress; identify as important. determine - to decide on; establish an opinion; settle. assess - to break it apart and understand. conclude - to decide the outcome of a problem or event. purpose - reason for doing something. Students will not need a textbook at home. Everything they need for home is in their red folder. Please remind your child that he/she should be studying their notes about 10-15 mins each evening. This will prevent them from having to spend hours studying for a test the night before.
