NEAL'S NEST




Spelling Contract -
Monday- Say and tap out your words. Next, say and write each word on a table top with the pad of your finger. Have a grown-up call out your words to you while you write them on paper for a home practice activity. Write the words you miss three times each.
Tuesday- Take a practice test at home. Write the words you miss 3X each again. Then, neatly write 1 sentence using at least three of your words. Pick the hardest ones. Turn these in on Friday with your HW packet.
Wednesday-If you got all your regular words correct, (not the Challenge words), then you are finished. If you mised words on the Practice Test, write each one three times each, say it and tap it out. Try to remember how we learned it at school.
Thursday-Continue to practice at home. Take another practice test at home on the words you keep missing.
Friday- Final Test !! Good luck!!

SPELLING -  The spelling words this week have the "s"blends.   

  The words are:  scat   snap  stop  spin   swim  slap  skull  smell     
   Tricky Words: this   have
Study for your test on Friday morning.  
Please keep your Spelling Contract in a safe place to be used each week to study.  You may choose to keep it in your child's notebook.  
Send in your child's practice tests and three sentences with their homework packet.  


___________We are happy to have Mrs. Lori Egloff working with our class.   She is doing a great job. 


___________We will have a Thanksgiving Feast on Monday, November 23rd at 1:30.  Our grademothers may call you to see if you can donate something.  You are also welcome to attend. 

__________We have been in the auditorium using the Milky Way Math Centers this week.  We will be using these for our math time several times during the next month.

___________Thanks for reading with your child.  Once they have read five books in the envelope and returned it signed, your child gets a reading prize.  They get a different prize for each five books read.  They really love to receive these prizes. Starting after Thanksgiving, we will be attaching a reading log to each homework packet.  Please write down the names of the books that you read.  These may be your library books, books from their reading group, or any books that they can read from home.  You may use the little books that we have copied and send home to read also.  

______________Please make sure your child has a healthy snack each day. 

______________We go to the library every other Tuesday at 1:00.  On our guidance week, we go on Friday morning just to exchange books.  Please have all library books back on Tuesday or Friday. 

______________We have P.E. on Wednesdays at 1:40. 

______________Please be reading aloud to your child.  This creates a love for reading that will follow them through life.

______________Please work on your word cards nightly and return to school the next day.

______________Please let me know if you need me or have any concerns that we need to discuss.  Someone helps me check the notebooks every day and we check to see if you need us.  Please be patient if we miss something.
