Third quarter report cards go home on Tuesday, April 12th, and we are moving into the home stretch of kindergarten! Thanks for your continued support as we finish preparing your child for first grade! Reading/Writing: We continue to work through the alphabet and by the end of April will have studied all the letters. Your child should be able to recognize and write each letter and say the sound it makes. We continue to model the process of writing, and students are learning to sound out words and write several complete sentences. By now, they should be able to read and spell some of our high frequency words. Please practice these at home. We are emphasizing details in pictures, spacing, and correct capitalization and punctuation.
Math: We are studying numbers 21-30. Your child should be able to recognize these numbers, count groups of objects, and make sets to model each number. We have introduced solid shapes (sphere and cube) and are reviewing patterns, sorting, graphing, measurement, and estimation. Science/Social Studies: In April we will have a field trip to Dan Nicholas and will also be studying plants, Spring weather, and Easter.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us. Your child's agenda is an effective way to communicate with us. Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Conner
