http://www.rss.k12.nc.us/_graphics/Snowman.jpg December in Kindergarten Our month has begun and we are off running. The children have new sight words to work on: with, at, be she, this, he and of. Five of the children knew these the first day back from Thanksgiving vacation. This is great! Sight word practice after the words are learned each month should be three times weekly. The December word wall is sent home to help you, assist your child in locating those words on the word wall that they are using in their Writer's Workshop pieces. Santa's elf has visited the children three days this week. Amanda Thompson has made certain that the children had items the first week. Some of you have spoken to me about your gifts for the students, please go ahead and send them on Monday. To those of you who sent money, thank you as it made it easy for Anna Claire's mom to send early treats. The children are excited each day as they check bags to see if Santa's elf has come by the room. Look for a triangle piece of poster board to come home the last week of school before vacation. This is to make a family pennant over the vacation. Put a picture of your family in the middle of the pennant and decorate the rest of the pennant with family activities. These would be pictures of places your family likes to go, family pets, favorite foods, activities that your family enjoys doing together. The children are not drawing on these projects. They may cut pictures out of magazines if you dont have pictures. Your child needs to return the project by Thursday, January 15. These pennants will be put on the wall in the hall for the teachers and students to see. The children are so excited when they see others stopping to look at their pictures. When they return their pennant, they will give a short talk about the different pictures on the pennant. Let your child practice on you so they will have rehearsed what they will be sharing with their friends. If you have any questions, please write in the agenda. Thank you for your continued support!
