Mrs. Barringer's Fourth Grade ALLSTARS!!!

 WELCOME BACK FOURTH GRADERS!!!

Get ready to put forth your best effort and work, work, work!!!

ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST in ALL YOU DO!!!!

Third Quarter News in Math:

On Wednesday, January 27th, all children will begin taking the timed multiplication quizzes again.  Everyone starts back at zero which means that no child will be excused until they have made three (3) consecutive grades of 102 on their timed multiplication quiz.  These quizzes will continue until the week before the third quarter ends.  Your child is expected to write fact sheets to bring up his/her grade each week in a timely manner.  I have seen wonderful growth from the children who have been writing their fact sheets weekly.  WAY TO GO KIDS!!!!

All of the fourth graders were given a special treat if they brought up all of their multiplication quiz grades to a 102.  They had chocolate!!!

Please encourage and expect your child to complete his/her homework assignments on time.

I would LOVE to have ALL of my WONDERFUL STUDENTS take part in writing their fact sheets.  If I had 100% participation, we would definitely need to  CELEBRATE!!!!

Please check your child's agenda nightly for important messages/notes concerning academics and behavior.  Parents are expected to sign the agenda nightly.

Remember to check my website for current spelling lists and homework assignments.  This will help you if your child's handwriting is not neat and if he/she is not writing all of the assignments in the agenda!!!

Twelve Powerful Words

All students at Bostian Elementary School will be polishing their test-taking strategies while mastering Dr. Larry Bell’s Twelve Powerful Words for increased performance. The words are:  trace, analyze, infer, evaluate, formulate, describe, support, explain, summarize, compare, contrast, predict.  Students in the fifth grade a required to pronounce, spell, define, use in a sentence, and create a question with the words so that they can become an important part of each student’s vocabulary.  Ask your child about these words.  They may surprise you with what they already know.
