Please check to see that you are turning in 2 practice spelling tests and 3 sentences (using three different spelling words) along with your math homework each Friday. We have several students that are only turning in 1 practice test. Also please have your child use the attached writing paper that is with the homework packet to write their spelling assignments on. First graders should not be writing on notebook paper at this time. They need to learn to write on the lines correctly on first grade paper. Thanks for your continued help on this assignment.
Please remember to sign your child's notebook each night and return it to school every day.
Math- problem solving, estimation to 50, rote counting (by 5's and 10's to 100 and 2's to 20)) Spelling- No Spelling thie week
Tricky Words- There will be a test on Friday each week. These words are also written in our Agenda notebooks every Monday. Please remember to turn in all spelling homework (daily spelling contract assignments that include 2 or more practice tests (you call out the words and your child writes them without looking at the words) and at least three sentences using three or more spelling words) on Friday with the math homework. Please use the spelling contract that is in the back of the notebook under the spelling tab. Also we will fill in the spelling graph each Friday with our spelling test results. It is also under the spelling tab.
Skills- capital letters and punctuation, ABC order, listening Writing Writing about things we are thankful for. Writer's Workshop- writing about a small moment, stretching our words to write all the sounds we here in words, writing center- write a story, recipe, poem, card to someone, write a letter, etc., Reading- All groups- The Most Thankful Thing and Happy Thanksgiving Group 1- Group 2&3- Group 4- Group 5- Social Studies- Thanksgiving traditions, Native Americans and how their life was different from our lives today Science/Health- Technology-
All first grade students should be able to READ AND SPELL 100 high frequency words by the end of the year. Please keep the list and review all words they do not know often.
