 Please remember to sign your child's notebook each night and return it to school every day.  Also please look for your child's work and any notes we may send home each day in the notebook.  You may send lunch money (in a ziploc bag with their name on the bag) and any notes to school in the notebook.  We will go through the notebooks each morning.  We are also putting their homework packet in the notebook each Friday.  Please return the homework packet in the notebook on the Friday it is due.  

Please do not send in the homework packet until the date it is due. You will need to do the spelling assignments each night and cannot turn it in until they are completed.

There will be a spelling test on Friday each week.  These words are also written in our Agenda notebooks every Monday.

Please remember to turn in all spelling homework (daily spelling contract assignments that include 2 or more practice tests (you call out the words and your child writes them without looking at the words) and at least three sentences using three or more spelling words) on Friday with the math homework.  Please use the spelling contract that is in the back of the notebook under the spelling tab. 

Skills- verbs, nouns, ABC order, welded sounds (-ang, -ank)

Writing-  writing small moment stories with correct punctuation and capitalization, writing stories with a beginning, middle, and an end, 

Reading all groups- snow stories. animals in winter stories and stories from our basal readers 

Social Studies-  Martin Luther King, Jr.

Science/Health-   animals in winter, hibernation, force and motion

Technology- Promethean board activities, computer lab


All first grade students should be able to READ AND SPELL 100 high frequency words by the end of the year.

Please keep the list and review all words they do not know often.


Please remember to sign your child's notebook each night and remove their work from the folder.

SCHOOL TIMES:

  • 7:30- students may begin arriving
  • 7:50- bell rings, announcements begin
  • 2:17- bell rings for dismissal
