Our theme for this year is Dream, Believe, Dare, Do - the Disney Way!  Walt Disney lived his life by setting goals, believing in himself, and accomplishing great things.

Fifth Grade Reading/Language Arts: This is our last week of Nature's Fury.  We will read selections on Volcanoes and have several activities to complete.  Fifth graders will have 5 Centers to complete this week - two centers on Thursday and 3 on Friday.  We will have the COW both days for our research!  Students will also finish their mini Earthquake foldable, their poetry from last week, and one group work assignment.  Fifth graders will also begin vocabulary unit 4 - man, manu, metr, meter, multi-, and ped.

Fourth Grade Reading/Language Arts: Fourth grade will finish Theme 2 this week reading a great selection - A Very Important Day.  Our work this week will be in reading comprehension, dictionary skills, multiple meaning words, possessive nouns, and apostrophes. Spelling this week will focus on The final silent E rule. Our Spelling test and Centers will be on Thursday.  A guest speaker, Andrew's mom, will speak to us on Wednesday about her Very Important Day - becoming a US citizen!  Students will have this week to finish their book reports, poems, and one group activity.

Next Socratic Seminar - Friday, November 6!!  Topic - And Still the Turtle Watched.  Everyone will receive discussion questions on Monday to help guide their preparation for the Seminar.

Singapore Math this week will begin a new concept - Model Drawing to solve problems.  We will have one problem a day to solve.  This will be guided as a group activity this week.
