Student Council

The Overton Student Council is represented by grades one through five. The Student Council representatives are held to very high standards.  They are the student leaders of the school. 

The representatives for the 2011-2012 school year are:

First Grade: Aaron A., Eli W., & Hailey S.
Second Grade: Amaya S., Autumn W., & Sophie C.
Third Grade:  Alex B., Ben B., Emily R., Lillie R., Michael F., Natalie L., Phoebe H., & Pryce P.
Fourth Grade: Anna Grace W., Dwayne B., Gabrielle S-M, Jackson W., Jonnesha M., Luke B., Marco C. & Sydney S. 
Fifth Grade: Ava H., Blake C., Bo R., Meredith G., Rebecca L, & Timothy G.
 

Officers are elected each November and serve a 1 year term.

Current Projects 

***** Our next meeting will be Wed. Nov. 16th in the media center.  We will continue with our cards for Meals on Wheels, start our Salvation Army Canned Food Drive and sort collectibles.  We will also vote for our next Staff Member of the Month.

***** Our next meeting was Wed. Oct. 19th in Mrs. Rutherford's room.  

***** Congratulations to Mrs. Rogers for being our second Staff Member of the Month.

***** Our first meeting was Wednesday, Sept. 21st in the media center from 2:15 - 3:15.

***** Congratulations to Mr. Conklin for being our first Staff Member of the Month.

***** We are working on a lot of year long projects. 

** We are still collecting box tops, pop tops, toiletry items, dish detergent & Campbell's soup labels.  These items will be brought to the meetings each month and sorted.
** We are also still having our Recycle Brigade. Every week, each representative will bring their assigned recycle bucket to the gym to sort.
** The Student Council also chooses a Staff Member of the Month to recognize. The students do this by a secret ballot at each meeting. The lucky staff member fills out a questionnaire, has his/her picture taken as well as being recognized on our morning show, WCTO. The winner also gets a gift certificate from Texas Roadhouse.

***** Overton's Student Council is nominated for Service Above Self again this year.
The awards night is Dec. 8th.  Wish us luck!
