Welcome to the 7th Grade and Life Science.

Attention Parents

Make sure that you ask to see their Science notebook every Friday.  Please sign it over the weekend.  We check it every Monday for a grade. (I will modify the schedule to account for Holidays and other special occations.)

Life Science Classes

We are currently working on Macro Biology.  We will be discovering the world around us and how it is organized.  We are currently working on populations, communities and ecosystems and the interaction of living and non-living things in the environment. Vocabulary test on Ch. 20 will be Thursday.  Make sure you have completed your vocabulary by then.

Gifted Students

Our gifted students will explore the field of Life Science at a deeper level than the other magnet students.  We will consentrate of the state of Georgia.  We will have several projects that the students will complete during the year that pertain to Georgia's environments and the living components in those environments.

Our 1st project will be a Powerpoint, Web Page, Podcast or Movie Maker of all of the Living state symbols for the state of Georgia.

The requirements are as follows:

1.  Each symbol must have at least one picture of the symbol.

2.  Bullet form information about the symbol.

This must contain where it can be found in the state.

When was it included as a state symbol.

General information about the symbol

This should be included on one slide.

3.  A map of Georgia must be included, with the area of the state where the symbol can be found.

Project Due Date is November 6

Same as the Life Science information with the execption of outside projects.  These projects will vary during the year, but will always pertain to the content that we are currently covering.

Skills Class

Make sure you ask to see their skills notebook.  Check for assignments and Reading Log, both need to be signed.

We will consentrate on making sure that each student has completed at least four AR books and passed their AR test.  We will be working on several different things this year.  For those students that are reading below grade level, we will be working on a reading program call SRA.  It is designed to improve a students overall reading skills.
