Welcome! The school year is underway, and we are busy everyday! It's hard to believe that the first quarter is over. We've spent a lot of time getting our feet wet, and getting to know each other. 1st Quarter Highlights First quarter was about learning procedures, and re-calling what we know already. In Language we began reviewing the characteristics of sentences. We learned the different types of sentences, and how to write them correctly. This will help us out as we become better writer's through out the year. In Social Studies we began by reviewing some geography, and map skills. We reviewed our continents and oceans, as well as how to use the global grid system to find absolute location. It's important to know where we are in the world to learn how we connect to others. In Spelling we took a series of tests that helped to determine our spelling teams. In each class we have 5 different spelling teams. Sometimes teams work together in class to complete tasks or play games. Coming Up in 2nd Quarter This quarter promises to be just as busy as the first. We have already began a unit on Nouns. We will continue and also work with verbs and Adjectives before the end of the quarter in January. In Social Studies we will be beginning our computer-based unit on North Carolina Industries. Progress Reports Please remember to complete and return progress reports. Reports are usually sent out on Wednesday or Thursday of each week. Please remove the attached papers. They are for you. Return the signed progress report in your Home-School communication envelope each week.
