Such activities include, but are not limited to, whiffle ball, bocce, disc golf, ultimate frisbee, kickball and carolina tag football. We will engage in outdoor activities as long as the weather cooperates. For each activity in this class students will: (a) demonstrate skills to the best of their ability, (b) demonstrate knowledge of history, rules, player positions and responsibilities, (c) demonstrate knowledge of basic principles of sports medicine (injury prevention and care), physiological responses to exercises, anatomy and kinesiology, and long term benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle. In addition, Students will be required to accumulate fifty miles of walking during the semester. Remember this is an upper level physical education class, students are expected to pace themselves and not fall behind on their mileage. There is a $20.00 fee for the lifetime sports class to help offset the cost of field trips we will be taking during the spring semester. Arrangements to pay this fee should be made as soon as possible so you will be allowed to take part in all activities. This is a participation class and your grade will reflect your participation. In weight lifting, students will learn how to safely and effectively cross train for athletics and a healthy lifestyle. We will explore the various muscle groups and learn how to both tone and strengthen for optimum wellness. Expect to challenge yourself throughout the semester as we push towards higher fitness goals through healthy eating, strength training, and cardiovascular exercise.
Our goals in weightlifting are: 1) successfully execute the mechanics of specific weight lifting exercises 2) assess his/her strength level for specific exercises 3) demonstrate the ability to set goals and integrate them into a weight lifting program. Also, we are excited to have our new fitness center up and running. With treadmills, elliptical machines, recumbent bikes, stationary bikes, rowing machines and ropes, there is something there for everyone to enjoy. __________________________________________________ 2011 Cavalier Golf Team Jesse Pinkston Dillon Mason Kyle Collins Rafe Harrison Scott Loflin Brandon Lemmon Alex Billingsley 2011 CAVALIER GOLF SCHEDULE Date Host Location March 2 North Rowan Corbin Hills March 7 South Stanly Piney Point CC March 8 Rowan-Cabarrus Irish Creek March 14 North Moore Little River CC March 17 South Davidson Asheboro CC March 21 Gray Stone Badin CC March 24 West Montgomery Denson's Creek CC March 31 Salisbury Warrior April 5 Chatham Central Siler City CC April 7 East Montgomery Denson's Creek CC April 11 North Rowan Corbin Hills CC April 14 Albemarle Badin CC April 18 Conference Match Piney Point May 2 Regionals Piney Point 2011 CROSS-COUNTRY Practice begins Monday, August 1st @ 8:00 am Aug. 23 Preseason Meet TBA Aug.29 Pre-County Meet Dan Nicholas Park Aug. 30 Alb.,SS,GS,NR,WM Chuck Morehead Park Sept. 6 GS,ALB.,WM,NR,CC Gray Stone Sept. 13 NM,WM,Alb.,GS,NR North Moore Sept. 20 WM,NR,Alb.,SS,SD West Montgomery Sept. 27 NR,CC,SD,NM North Rowan Oct. 4 SD,SS,CC,NR South Davidson Oct. 5 County Meet Dan Nicholas Park Oct. 11 NR,Alb.,SS,GS,SD North Rowan Oct. 18 Conference Meet TBA Oct. 29 Regional Meet TBA Coaches: Kelly Everhart & Aaron Rimer Go CAVS.......................
