Welcome To Mrs. Cooper's Visual Art I & Visual Art II classes

2009-2010





Supply list for all visual art I classes

  • 3 ring loose-leaf binder
  • sketchbook (11x14, 9x12, or anything close to these sizes)
  • colored pencils (24 color set brand name is not important)
  • drawing pencils (regular #2 pencil will be okay)
  • at least one black ink pen for drawing
  • ruler ( preferably 12 or 15 inch metal ruler )
  • 1 large eraser ( preferably the magic rub or vinyl erasers )
  • felt tip marker set ( 10 color set of thin tip markers and wide tip markers )
  • 2 oz. bottles of assorted acrylic paint- red, yellow, orange, blue, violet, green, white, black, and brown ( paint can be found at Wal-Mart, Michael's, A C Moore's, or Ben Franklin )
  • 1 canvas board or panel
All art supplies can be found at Staples, Office Depot, Wal-Mart, and above mentioned stores. If there is a problem with getting supplies please do hesitate to call the school ( 279-5232 ) and I (Mrs Cooper) will MAKE sure you have what you need.

  • 3 ring loose-leaf binder for class notes, worksheets etc.
  • sketchbook (11x14, 9x12 or anything close)
  • drawing pencils (no. 2 pencil will be fine)
  • 1 large vinyl eraser
  • 2 oz. bottles of acrylic paint, colors needed are----red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, brown, black, and white
  • THIS CLASS REQUIRES A $25.00 FEE !!!!!!



Class Rules For Visual Art I & II

  1. Be in your seat and on task when the bell rings.
  2. Bring all needed materials to class each day.
  3. Respect school property, art materials, and the people around you.
  4. Work area and room must be clean before you are dismissed from class.
  5. Follow all school rules.
  6. Above all be positive and believe in yourself.

Weekly Assignments For Visual Art I

N.C.S.C.O.S. FOR WEEK OF 11-23-09---11-27-09,
  ***1.01,1.03,3.01,2.04 Students will continue working on Color Unit.  Students will complete Candy Wrapper Project with colored pencils. Due date for project will be 11-24-09.



  • Monday (11-23-09)Students will continue working on Color Unit. Students will continue working on Candy Wrapper Project(students must have brought three wrappers fom home)---students will focus on completing sketch and begin adding values using colored pencils to match those of wrappers. Criteria for project is listed on board in classroom. Due date is 11-24-2009.
  • Tuesday (11-24-09)  Students will complete Candy Wrapper  Project using  colored pencils----students will complete values on wrappers using colored pencils and mount candy wrappers onto contrasting color of construction paper showing cast shadows/light source as well. Half day schedule----all students will be dismissed at 11:55. 
  • Wednesday (11-25-09) No school for staff or students -----THANKSGIVING HOLIDAYS BEGIN :)
  • Thursday (11-26-09) THANKSGIVNG HOLIDAY NO SCHOOL ----NO SCHOOL FOR STAFF OR STUDENTS ;0
  • Friday (11-27-09) NO SCHOOL FOR STAFF OR STUDENTS----THANKSGIVNG HOLIDAY :)
                                 WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS FOR VISUAL ART II
                                            N.C.S.C.O.S. FOR WEEK OF 11-23-09---11-27-09   ***1.01, 1.02, 1.03 Students will complete  Palette Knife Paintings using acrylic paint, painting 8 paintings---turning in best 6 on 11-23-09. ***1.01,1.02,1.03,1.04,1.05,1.06,1.07,2.01 Students will CONTINUE Clay Unit. Students will continue Clay Night Light Project using pinch, coil, and slab methods as well incorporating visual texture into design.

  • Monday(11-23-09) Students will continue working on  Clay Night Light using pinch, coil aand slab method. All students were given a criteria paper explaining requirements. Due date for project will be 12-1-09.
  • Tuesday(11-24-09)  Students will continue Clay Night Light Project---students will again focus on incorporating pinch, coil and slab method and use of visual texture into design. HALF DAY SCHOOL DAY---ALL STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED AT 11:55.
  • Wednesday(11-25-09) THANKSGIVNG HOLIDAYS BEGIN--NO SCHOOL FOR STAFF OR STUDENTS :)
  • Thursday(11-26-09) THANKSGIVNG DAY----NO SCHOOL FOR STAFF OR STUDENTS :0
  • Friday(11-27-09) THANKSGIVNG HOLIDAY---NO SCHOOL FOR STAFF OR STUDENTS :)

  • REPORT CARDS FOR STUDENTS WILL GO HOME ON TUESDAY (11-10-09) OF THIS WEEK. STUDENTS WILL REPORT BACK TO THEIR HOMEROOMS AT THE END OF FOURTH BLACK TO RECEIVE THEIR REPORT CARDS. EARLY RELEASE STUDENTS MAY PICK THEIR REPORT CARD UP IN THE MAIN OFFICE UPON LEAVING SCHOOL.

    • ALL VISUAL ART I STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PAY A CLAY FEE OF $20.00 THIS IS DUE BY THE END OF THE SEMESTER. IF THIS IS A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP PLEASE CALL, EMAIL, OR SEND A NOTE THROUGH YOUR CHILD AND THE SCHOOL WILL PAY THE COST FOR YOUR CHILD'S CLAY MATERIALS. THIS NEEDS TO BE PAYED BY 1-8-10.

      • ART CLUB WILL MEET ON WEDNESDAY 11-18-09. WE WILL BE WORKING ON/COMPLETING THE MUSTANG MURAL ON THE BUS HALLWAY.   MEETING TIME WILL BE 2:35 UNTIL 3:30. PLEASE PLAN TO MEET IN MRS. ROLLINS ROOM---202 :)
