Welcome To Mrs. Cooper's Visual Art I & Visual Art II classes

2009-2010





Supply list for all visual art I classes

  • 3 ring loose-leaf binder
  • sketchbook (11x14, 9x12, or anything close to these sizes)
  • colored pencils (24 color set brand name is not important)
  • drawing pencils (regular #2 pencil will be okay)
  • at least one black ink pen for drawing
  • ruler ( preferably 12 or 15 inch metal ruler )
  • 1 large eraser ( preferably the magic rub or vinyl erasers )
  • felt tip marker set ( 10 color set of thin tip markers and wide tip markers )
  • 2 oz. bottles of assorted acrylic paint- red, yellow, orange, blue, violet, green, white, black, and brown ( paint can be found at Wal-Mart, Michael's, A C Moore's, or Ben Franklin )
  • 1 canvas board or panel
All art supplies can be found at Staples, Office Depot, Wal-Mart, and above mentioned stores. If there is a problem with getting supplies please do hesitate to call the school ( 279-5232 ) and I (Mrs Cooper) will MAKE sure you have what you need.

  • 3 ring loose-leaf binder for class notes, worksheets etc.
  • sketchbook (11x14, 9x12 or anything close)
  • drawing pencils (no. 2 pencil will be fine)
  • 1 large vinyl eraser
  • 2 oz. bottles of acrylic paint, colors needed are----red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, brown, black, and white
  • THIS CLASS REQUIRES A $25.00 FEE !!!!!!



Class Rules For Visual Art I & II

  1. Be in your seat and on task when the bell rings.
  2. Bring all needed materials to class each day.
  3. Respect school property, art materials, and the people around you.
  4. Work area and room must be clean before you are dismissed from class.
  5. Follow all school rules.
  6. Above all be positive and believe in yourself.

Weekly Assignments For Visual Art I

N.C.S.C.O.S. FOR WEEK OF 11-2-09---11-6-09,
  ***1.01, 1.02, 1.05,4.03,6.03,8.02 Students will begin  City Scene Project in 2 point perspective using no. pencil---due date will be 11-12-09.



  • Monday (11-2-09)Students will begin working on City Scene Project in 2 point perspective using no. 2 pencil----focus will be to draw balcony(viewpoint) and add 12 buildings. Criteria is listed on board in classroom. Due date is 11-12-2009.
  • Tuesday (11-3-09) Students will  continue working on City Scene Project using no. 2 pencil----students will focus on adding in road, landscaping, extra balconies etc. to city.
  • Wednesday (11-4-09) Students will again continue working on City Scene Project using no. 2 pencil----students will begin adding details/designing facade of buildings.
  • Thursday (11-5-09) Students will continue working on City Scene Project---adding details to facade of buildings. 
  • Friday (11-6-09) Students will continue working on City Scene Project. Homework in sketchbook due today(assigned on 10/29/2009) will be 2 Point Perspective Exercise creating 10 boxes using no. 2 pencil and 2 point perspective.
                                 WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS FOR VISUAL ART II
                                            N.C.S.C.O.S. FOR WEEK OF 11-2-09---11-6-09   ***1.01, 1.02, 1.03 Students will continue working on  Palette Knife Paintings using acrylic paint, painting 10 paintings---turning in best 8 on 11-16-09.

  • Monday(11-2-09) Students will continue working on Palette Knife Paintings using acrylic paint on canvas paper---students will continue to work on creating backgrounds for paintings as well as adding subjects to backgrounds already created. Students must paint 10 paintings and turn in best eight on 11-16-2009. Students were given a criteria paper with a checklist of requirements for paintings on 10-9-2009.
  • Tuesday(11-3-09) Students will continue working on backgrounds for Palette Knife Paintings using acrylic paint.
  • Wednesday(11-4-09) Students will continue adding subjects to backgrounds of Palette Knife Paintings using acrylic paint.
  • Thursday(11-5-09) Students will continue working on Palette Knife Paintings using acrylic paint on white canvas paper----working from background to foreground.
  • Friday(11-6-09) Students will continue working on Palette Knife Paintings using acrylic paint on white canvas paper---working from background to foreground. Students should have 5/half of their paintings completed today!!!!



    • ALL VISUAL ART I STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PAY A CLAY FEE OF $20.00 THIS IS DUE BY THE END OF THE SEMESTER. IF THIS IS A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP PLEASE CALL, EMAIL, OR SEND A NOTE THROUGH YOUR CHILD AND THE SCHOOL WILL PAY THE COST FOR YOUR CHILD'S CLAY MATERIALS. THIS NEEDS TO BE PAYED BY 1-8-10.

      • ART CLUB WILL MEET ON WEDNESDAY 10-21-09. WE WILL BE WORKING ON/COMPLETING THE MUSTANG MURAL ON THE BUS HALLWAY. WE WILL ALSO BE CREATING A HORSE SHOE STENCIL TO BE PAINTED AT THE ENTRANCE OF FOOTBALL STADIUM.  MEETING TIME WILL BE 2:35 UNTIL 3:30. PLEASE PLAN TO MEET IN MRS. ROLLINS ROOM---202 :)
