Welcome To Mrs. Cooper's Visual Art I & Visual Art II classes

2011-2012

                



Supply list for all visual art I classes

  • 3 ring loose-leaf binder
  • sketchbook (11x14, 9x12, or anything close to these sizes)
  • colored pencils (24 color set brand name is not important)
  • drawing pencils (regular #2 pencil will be okay)
  • at least one black ink pen for drawing
  • ruler ( preferably 12 or 18 inch metal ruler )
  • 1 large eraser ( preferably the magic rub or vinyl erasers )
  • felt tip marker set ( 10 color set of thin tip markers and wide tip markers )
  • 2 oz. bottles of assorted acrylic paint- red, yellow, orange, blue, violet, green, white, black, and brown ( paint can be found at Wal-Mart, Michael's, A C Moore's, or Ben Franklin )
  • $20.00 fee for clay materials(students will have the entire semester to pay fee)
All art supplies can be found at Staples, Office Depot, Wal-Mart, and above mentioned stores. If there is a problem with getting supplies please do hesitate to call the school ( 279-5232 ) and I (Mrs Cooper) will MAKE sure you have what you need.

  • sketchbook (11x14, 9x12 or anything close)
  • drawing pencils (no. 2 pencil will be fine)
  • 1 large vinyl eraser
  • 2 oz. bottles of acrylic paint, colors needed are----red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, brown, black, and white
  • THIS CLASS REQUIRES A $25.00 FEE !!!!!!



Class Rules For Visual Art I

  1. Be in your seat and on task when the bell rings.
  2. Bring all needed materials to class each day.
  3. Respect school property, art materials, and the people around you.
  4. Work area and room must be clean before you are dismissed from class.
  5. Follow all school rules.
  6. Above all be positive and believe in yourself.

Weekly Assignments For Visual Art I

N.C.S.C.O.S. FOR WEEK OF 2-6-2012---2-10-2012
**** 1.01,1.02,1.03,1.05, 3.01, 6.03, 6.08  Students will learn use of Principles Of Design and Elements Of Art.  Students will define Principles Of Design and Elements Of Art. Students will begin Expressive Line Design Project using black pen. Criteria for project will be listed on board in classroom. Due date will be 2/13/2012.


  • Monday (2-6-2012) Students will define Principles of Design and Elements of Art using Arttalk textbook. Class discussion will follow.
  • Tuesday (2-7-2012) Students will discuss the emotional and physical qualities of line in preparation for their Expressive Line Design Project using black pen. Criteria for Expressive Line Design Project will be listed o board in classroom. Due date for project will be 2/13/2012.
  • Wednesday (2/8/2012) Students will continue working On Expressive Line Design project using black pen--creating contrast as well as showing variety of lines.

    Thursday (2-9-2012) Students will again continue working on Expressive Line Design Project showing contrast as well as variety of lines.
  • Friday (2-10-2012) Students will work toward completing  Expressive Line Design using black pen. Homework sketch in sketchbook is due (assigned on Friday 2/3/2012) Texture Examples (10 different examples), with use of black pen. All students were given a verbal explanation of assignment as well as a handout. Homework in sketchbook for 2/17/2012 will be Landscape Drawing using black pen. All students will be given a handout as well as a verbal explanation to help with assignment.

                     N.C.S.C.O.S. OBJECTIVES FOR THE WEEK OF 2/6/2012---2/10/2012
      ****1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 6.03, 6.08  Students will continue working on Personality Portfolio Design Project in the style of artist Don Stewart. Due date for project will be 2/10/2012. All students were given a rubric to help with project.


  • MONDAY(2/6/2012) Students will continue working on final for Personality Portfolio Design in style of artist Don Stewart using colored pencils for values, highlights and shadows.---following rubric given on 1/27/2012. Due date will be 2/10/2012.
  • TUESDAY(2/7/2012) Students will again continue working on final for Personality Portfolio Design Project in style of artist Don Stewart.
  • WEDNESDAY(2/8/2012) Students will continue adding color to Personality Portfolio Design Project using colored pencils showing good use of values, highlights and shadows.
  • THURSDAY(2/9/2012) Students will work toward completing final Personality Portfolio Design Project in style of artist Don Stewart.
  • FRIDAY(2/10/2012) Students will complete work on final for Personality Portfolio Design Project in style of artist Don Stewart---checking rubric to ensure requirements have been met. Students will have written class critiques (Monday) on Personality Portfolio Design Project for feedback from self and peers.. Homework in sketchbook is due (assigned on 2/3/2012) 3-D Maze  filling page in sketchbook, detailing maze, showing foreground, middle ground and background, showing contrast of values, as well as highlights and shadows using choice of media---no. 2 pencils or colored pencils. All students were given a verbal explanation of assignment a well as a handout. Homework in sketchbook for 2/17/2012 will be Pencil Project filling page in sketchbook with good use of values, highlights and shadows using colored pencils or no. 2 pencil.

  • ART CLUB WILL MEET ON 2/8/2012 IN ROOM 202( MRS. ROLLINS) FROM 2:40-3:40.  WE WILL CONTINUE WORKING ON CEILING TILES---SEE YOU THERE :)

  • REPORT CARDS WILL BE SENT HOME ON TUESDAY 1/31/2012---STUDENTS WILL GO BACK TO HOMEROOM AT THE END OF THE DAY TO GET THEIR REPORT CARD. STUDENTS WHO OWE FEES FORM THE FALL SEMESTER OR PREVIOUS YEAR(S) WILL NOT RECEIVE THEIR REPORT CARD UNTIL FEE(S) IS PAID.

  • ALL VISUAL ART II STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PAY A CLASS FEE OF $25.00. THIS IS DUE BY THE END OF THE SEMESTER. IF THIS IS A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP PLEASE CALL, EMAIL, OR SEND A NOTE THROUGH YOUR CHILD AND THE SCHOOL WILL PAY THE COST FOR YOUR CHILD'S MATERIALS. THIS NEEDS TO BE PAYED FOR TAKEN CARE OF BY 5-29-2012.
  •  ALL VISUAL ART I STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PAY A CLAY FEE OF $20.00 THIS IS DUE BY THE END OF THE SEMESTER. IF THIS IS A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP PLEASE CALL, EMAIL, OR SEND A NOTE THROUGH YOUR CHILD AND THE SCHOOL WILL PAY THE COST FOR YOUR CHILD'S CLAY MATERIALS. THIS NEEDS TO BE PAYED BY 5-29-12.
