Welcome To Mrs. Cooper's Visual Art I & Visual Art II classes

2009-2010





Supply list for all visual art I classes

  • 3 ring loose-leaf binder
  • sketchbook (11x14, 9x12, or anything close to these sizes)
  • colored pencils (24 color set brand name is not important)
  • drawing pencils (regular #2 pencil will be okay)
  • at least one black ink pen for drawing
  • ruler ( preferably 12 or 15 inch metal ruler )
  • 1 large eraser ( preferably the magic rub or vinyl erasers )
  • felt tip marker set ( 10 color set of thin tip markers and wide tip markers )
  • 2 oz. bottles of assorted acrylic paint- red, yellow, orange, blue, violet, green, white, black, and brown ( paint can be found at Wal-Mart, Michael's, A C Moore's, or Ben Franklin )
  • 1 canvas board or panel
All art supplies can be found at Staples, Office Depot, Wal-Mart, and above mentioned stores. If there is a problem with getting supplies please do hesitate to call the school ( 279-5232 ) and I (Mrs Cooper) will MAKE sure you have what you need.

  • 3 ring loose-leaf binder for class notes, worksheets etc.
  • sketchbook (11x14, 9x12 or anything close)
  • drawing pencils (no. 2 pencil will be fine)
  • 1 large vinyl eraser
  • 2 oz. bottles of acrylic paint, colors needed are----red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, brown, black, and white
  • THIS CLASS REQUIRES A $25.00 FEE !!!!!!



Class Rules For Visual Art I & II

  1. Be in your seat and on task when the bell rings.
  2. Bring all needed materials to class each day.
  3. Respect school property, art materials, and the people around you.
  4. Work area and room must be clean before you are dismissed from class.
  5. Follow all school rules.
  6. Above all be positive and believe in yourself.

Weekly Assignments For Visual Art I

N.C.S.C.O.S. FOR WEEK OF 2 -8-10-----2-12-10
  ***1.07,3.01,3.02  Students will complete their Portfolio Design Project. Criteria for project is listed on board in classroom. Due date for project will be 2/8/10. Students will begin discussing Principles of Design & Elements of Art as well as defining terms. Students will begin Expressive Line Design with black pen---due date will be 2-16-10.


  • Monday (2-8-10) Students will complete Portfolio Design Project per criteria listed on board in classroom.
  • Tuesday (2-9-10) Students will begin unit on Principles of Design and Elements of Art. Students will define Principles of Design and Elements of Art using Arttalk textbook---class discussion will follow.
  • Wednesday (2-10-10) Students will begin Expressive Line Design with use of black pen. Students will learn to create contrast with line as well as variety. Due date for project will be 2-16-10.
  • Thursday (2-11-10) Students will continue working on Expressive Line Design Project using black pen.
  • Friday (2-12-10) Students will again continue working on Expressive Line Design Project using black pen. Homework in sketchbook for 2-12-10 will be Texture Examples(10) using black pen. A handout along with an explanation of assignment was be given to all students on 2-5-10 to ensure their success.
                                 WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS FOR VISUAL ART II
                                            N.C.S.C.O.S. FOR WEEK OF 2-8-10---2-12-10    ***1.01,1.02,1.03,6.03,6.08 Students will continue working on Portfolio  Design  Project  using artist  Don Stewart 's  style. Due date for project will be 2/12/10.

  • Monday(2-8-10) Students will complete final sketch for Personality Portfolio Design Project and begin adding color using colored pencils. Due date for project will be 2-12-10.

  • Tuesday(2-9-10) Students will continue adding color to Personality Portfolio Design Project using colored pencils.
  • Wednesday(2-10-10) Students will again continue adding color to Personality Portfolio Design Project using colored pencils.
  • Thursday(2-11-10)  Students will work toward completing Portfolio  Personality Design Project checking criteria paper to ensure requirements are met.
  • Friday(2-12-10) Students will  complete  Personality Portfolio Design Project and prepare for class presentation and critique on 2-15-10. Homework in sketchbook is due(assigned on 2/5/10) 3-D Maze using no. 2 pencil and colored pencils for values, highlights, and shadows. Maze must have a foreground, middleground, and background as well as fill page. A handout was given to all students as well as an explanation of assignment.


    • ALL VISUAL ART I STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PAY A CLAY FEE OF $20.00 THIS IS DUE BY THE END OF THE SEMESTER. IF THIS IS A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP PLEASE CALL, EMAIL, OR SEND A NOTE THROUGH YOUR CHILD AND THE SCHOOL WILL PAY THE COST FOR YOUR CHILD'S CLAY MATERIALS. THIS NEEDS TO BE PAYED BY 6-1-10.

      • ART CLUB WILL MEET ON WEDNESDAY 2-10-10 WE WILL BE WORKING ON DESIGNS FOR CEILING TILES---HAVE DESIGNS ALREADY IN PROGRESS.   MEETING TIME WILL BE 2:35 UNTIL 3:35. PLEASE PLAN TO MEET IN MRS. ROLLINS ROOM---202 :)
