Welcome To Mrs. Cooper's Visual Art I & Visual Art II classes
Supply list for all visual art I classes
- 3 ring loose-leaf binder
- sketchbook (11x14, 9x12, or anything close to these sizes)
- colored pencils (24 color set brand name is not important)
- drawing pencils (regular #2 pencil will be okay)
- at least one black ink pen for drawing
- ruler ( preferably 12 or 18 inch metal ruler )
- 1 large eraser ( preferably the magic rub or vinyl erasers )
- felt tip marker set ( 10 color set of thin tip markers and wide tip markers )
- 2 oz. bottles of assorted acrylic paint- red, yellow, orange, blue, violet, green, white, black, and brown ( paint can be found at Wal-Mart, Michael's, A C Moore's, or Ben Franklin )
- $20.00 fee for clay materials(students will have the entire semester to pay fee)
All art supplies can be found at Staples, Office Depot, Wal-Mart, and above mentioned stores. If there is a problem with getting supplies please do hesitate to call the school ( 279-5232 ) and I (Mrs Cooper) will MAKE sure you have what you need.

- 1 large vinyl eraser
- 2 oz. bottles of acrylic paint, colors needed are----red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, brown, black, and white
- THIS CLASS REQUIRES A $25.00 FEE !!!!!!
Class Rules For Visual Art I
- Be in your seat and on task when the bell rings.
- Bring all needed materials to class each day.
- Respect school property, art materials, and the people around you.
- Work area and room must be clean before you are dismissed from class.
- Follow all school rules.
- Above all be positive and believe in yourself.
Weekly Assignments For Visual Art I
N.C.S.C.O.S. FOR WEEK OF 4-16 -2012--4-20-2012 **** 1.01,1.02,1.05, 1.07 2.02,3.01,4.03, 8.01 Students will complete unit on Perspective. Students will begin Unit on Hand building With Clay---Pinch, Coil & Slab Methods. Students will begin by discussing Chapter 2--Working With Clay and Chapter 3--Hand building Methods In Experience Clay textbook. Students will also be learning proper use of clay terminology.
- Monday (4-16-2012) Students will complete unit on Perspective. Students will complete Mine Shaft Project ensuring interest is added to foreground, middle ground and background as well as having all interest drawn proportionate. Mine Shaft should also show good use of values, highlights and shadows with no. 2 pencil.
- Tuesday (4-17-2012) Students will begin Clay Unit. Students will answer questions and define clay terms in Experience Clay textbook---Chapters 2 and 3.
- Wednesday (4-18-2012) Students will continue answering questions from Chapter 3 in Experience Clay textbook and begin defining clay terminology.
- Thursday (4-19-2012) Students will complete definitions on clay terms and prepare for class discussion on chapters 2 and 3 in Experience Clay textbook tomorrow.
Friday (4-20-2012) Students will have class discussion on Chapters 2 and 3 in Experience Clay textbook. Homework in sketchbook is due today(assigned on Tuesday 4/3/2012) Street Scene using no. 2 pencil. Students were given a verbal explanation as well as a handout to help with assignment. Notebook Check will be given next Friday(4-27-2012) in place of homework sketch. Students will be given a checklist to help with organization of notebook
N.C.S.C.O.S. OBJECTIVES FOR THE WEEK OF 4/16/2012---4/20/2012 ****1.01, 1.03, 1.04,1.05, 1.06, 1.07, 6.03, 6.08 Students will complete ALL 5 Palette Knife Paintings. Students will turn in best 4 out of 5(titled and photos attached to the back of each painting)and select best of all for critiquing and matting on Monday4-23-2012.
- MONDAY(4/16/2012) Students will continue painting subjects that are of photograph quality for Palette Knife Paintings using acrylic paint, working from background to foreground. Due Date for ALL 5 Palette Knife Paintings to be completed will be 4/20/2012.
- TUESDAY(4/17/2012) Students will continue painting Palette Knife paintings adding subjects to created backgrounds--working from background to foreground using acrylic paint.
- WEDNESDAY(4/18/2012) Students will continue Palette Knife Paintings using acrylic paint adding subjects to created background(s) making sure paintings match that of chosen photos.
- THURSDAY(4/19/2012) Students will again continue working on Palette Knife Paintings using acrylic paint adding subjects to created background---remembering to work from background to foreground.
- FRIDAY(4/20/2012) Students will complete subjects(all 5) to Palette Knife Paintings using acrylic paint. Students will title and turn in best 4 out of 5 and prepare best of all for critiquing and matting on Monday 4/23/2012. Homework in sketchbook is due(assigned on Tuesday 4/3/2012) Comic Book Panel with chosen viewpoint, filling page, showing good use of values, highlights and shadows with choice of medium.
F. Y. I. - ART CLUB WILL MEET ON 4/18/2012 IN ROOM 202( MRS. ROLLINS) FROM 2:40-3:40. WE CONTINUE WORKING ON CEILING TILES AND VOLCANO FOR PROM. LAST MEETING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR WILL BE 5/9/2012. PLEASE BE PROMPT :)
- REPORT CARDS WILL BE SENT HOME WITH STUDENTS ON TUESDAY 4/3/2012.
- PROGRESS REPORTS WILL BE SENT HOME FOR ALL VISUAL ART I STUDENTS ON MONDAY 3/12/2012---PROGRESS REPORTS ARE DUE BACK ON OR BEFORE THURSDAY 3/15/2012 OR A PHONE CALL HOME WILL BE MADE. VISUAL ART II STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE THEIR PROGRESS REPORTS ON THURSDAY 3/15/2012.
- ALL VISUAL ART II STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PAY A CLASS FEE OF $25.00. THIS IS DUE BY THE END OF THE SEMESTER. IF THIS IS A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP PLEASE CALL, EMAIL, OR SEND A NOTE THROUGH YOUR CHILD AND THE SCHOOL WILL PAY THE COST FOR YOUR CHILD'S MATERIALS. THIS NEEDS TO BE PAYED FOR OR TAKEN CARE OF BY 5-29-2012.
- ALL VISUAL ART I STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PAY A CLAY FEE OF $20.00 THIS IS DUE BY THE END OF THE SEMESTER.
