WITH EACH NEW SEASON, COMES THE OPPORTUNITY TO GROW AND LEARN!
Please remember to send excuse notes for all student absences. Notes are to be turned in to homeroom teachers on the morning following an absence. For information on attendance requirements and reasons that are considered as lawfully excused, please refer to pages 54-58 of The Student-Parent Handbook and Code of Conduct. **Sending a note DOES NOT guarantee that the absence will be excused, unless it falls under one of the reasons listed in the booklet. We also have an educational trip form that may be submitted to Mrs. Johnson if absences are due to an educational opportunity. Please submit this form to Mrs. Johnson prior to the trip absence.
With our start time being 8:15, a student must be present until/by 11:45 to be counted present for the day or be present at least 3.5 hours of the school day.
We are now using the systemwide communication system, Connect-Ed, to communicate with students and parents. This system began calling daily absences on 12/4/06 and will be used for various communications throughout the school year. This should help improve our communication level from school to home considerably. Please assure that we have your most current primary phone number for messages to be received at your preferred location.
We have transitioned to a new information management system that is known as NCWISE, which is an online database for all North Carolina public schools. Reports that are sent home with students will be in a totally new format and may take some adjustment in reading and interpreting at all levels.
If you need to e-mail me directly regarding student information at CGMS, you may do so by selecting the e-mail option at the top of my page.
"What Is Success?"
Ralph Waldo Emerson
-To laugh often and much;
-To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
-To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
-To appreciate beauty;
-To find the best in others;
-To leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
-To know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived;
-This is to have succeeded.
**May each of our precious children-SUCCEED!
