Welcome to Mrs. Pacilio's Web Page

3rd Quarter news-The new year has brought in many hands on activities for the students to help the learning along!

Math-students are working on percents and proportions.  We have an upcoming test and after we will move on to Probability.  Students are taking biweekly assessments based on State standards.  These results are available to you upon request.  This helps me better serve your child and tell where exactly they need assistance so that they are successful in the upcoming years.

Science-We have moved on to learning about rocks and minerals and have been completing many hands on labs to help us further understand how scientist identify the different types of rocks.  These labs have a great mix of hands on, literacy and writing that makes the student exam and break down what exactly is being done. The students were excited to adorn safety goggles to test how certain minerals react to acid! The fun will continue with soil in the upcoming month.

We are planning a field trip to Hiddenite Mines in Taylorsville NC in late April (Warmer weather makes it a more pleasant experience!)

2nd Quarter news-after Christmas Break, and the students are getting back into the swing of things.

Math- Students are still working on mastering fraction operations.  We have already hit adding and subtracting and are now moving onto multiplying and dividing.  We will finish up the unit with fraction equations and as always, we are focusing on problem solving skills!

Science- Students are working on energy flowing through the ecosystem.  Food chains, food webs, water, nitrogen, carbon/oxygen cycles, are some of the items being reviewed.  Students are using this time to take the knowledge they have to create digital projects and further learning how to apply technology to their current skill base.

Reminders: Students begin to run out of classroom supplies, please ask your child if they need paper, pencils, or new notebooks.
